Match Notes 2011 Season
11/3 Round 1 MIAA South Sectional Field Hockey Play-offs vs Barnstable:It was a battle right to the last second in the 1-0 round one tournament game between rivals BR and Barnstable. Unfortunately with 11 minutes left in game-time, Barnstable found the net and was able to hold BR scoreless, despite serious scoring bids from Lauren Koczela, Ali Ladue, Kelly Alberti, and Kristen MacLellan. Audrey Dolloff was stellar in goal with 28 saves, including shutting down a penalty stroke. Erin Walsh, Sarah Frye, Claudia Gonzalez, and Katie Phieffer were strong and focused on defense and Lauren Gray, Gina Nelson, and Kelsey Donahue gave their all in the midfield. The Lady Trojans played their hearts out and should be very proud of their performance.
10/31 Varsity vs Brockton: The Lady Trojans tallied one more win for their 12-6 record today with a 6-0 win over Brockton. Lauren Koczela had 4 goals and 1 assist. Kelsey Donahue and Stepahanie Hardy each scored a goal as well. Other assists go to Sarah Frye, Ali Ladue, Kelly Alberti, and Nicole Kemmitt. Audrey Dolloff had 9 saves in net to clench her 6th shut out of the season. B-R is seeded 10th in the South and faces league opponent and long-time rival, Barnstable, in the South Sectionals on Thursday at 4:30 away.
10/28 Varsity vs Franklin: Unfortunately the BR field hockey team was unable to pull off the win against the strong and fast 4th seeded team of Franklin. Audrey DOlloff had 24 saves in net and Ali Ladue scored the goal for BR on a breakaway. Claudia Gonzalez was a standout on defense. Gina Nelson and Sarah Frye were strong in the midfield. JV: The JV field hockey season came to an end on Friday against the Franklin Panthers. While our team was a little distracted in the first half, we really dominated the second half. Ally Chappell was yet again a force in the net. She earned her 10th shutout of the season!
10/25Varsity vs Taunton: The Lady Trojans gained their 11th win yesterday in the 4-0 win over league opponent Taunton. Lauren Koczela tallied 2 goals and one assist, bringing her seasonal stats to 9 goals and 11 assists. Kristin MacLellan scored a goal and gained an assist as well (10 goals/ 6 assists overall). Ali Ladue scored the final goal of the game (8 goals/ 5 assists overall). Audrey Dolloff chalked up her 5th shut out, with 14 saves, bringing her goals against average to an impressive 1.43). Erin Walsh played with strength and smarts on defense, while Sarah Frye, Gina Nelson, Lauren Gray, and Kelsey Donahue, all assisted in the win from the midfield. BR faces Brockton on Thursday, away and is looking to add another W to their record. JV: In a very chilly 6 V 6 against Taunton, Sarah Williams was persistent in the circle and Siobhan Estabrook found the net from the stroke mark. Ally Chappel was "sensational" in goal and impressed everyone in attendance!
Freshmen: The freshman girls were victorious over Taunton 2-0. Great goal tending by Nicole Brown along with a strong defense of Jenny Heller, Haley Wayne, Elizabeth Magee and Tess ARrighi. Mid-field was dominated by Angela Correira, Molly Derochers, Andrea Rota with help from Tess Arrighi. The forwards: Molly Page, Abby Wilbar, Shannon Ladue, Emily Schwartz, and Lindsey Campbell, played hard and as a team effort contributed to the first goal; Molly Page scored the second goal for the BR players. The final game for the BR Trojan Freshman field hockey team is Thursday, October 27th, when they again face Taunton.
10/19 Varsity vs Franklin: B-R field hockey faced Franklin for the first time yesterday and unfortunately lost 5-0. Audrey Dolloff had another impressive performance in goal with 28 saves. Erin Walsh tallied her 5th defensive save of the season. All varsity and swing players attempted to help, but Franklin was a force to be reckoned with. JV: did not play.
10/18 Varsity vs Barnstable: After an 8-1 loss against Barnstable just three short weeks ago, the B-R field hockey team was ready for revenge and was able to hold the Red Raiders to one goal, but unfortunately could not find the net themselves. This was truly one of those games when the score does not accurately portray the way the game was played. B-R played strong, smart, and together! Audrey Dolloff was tremendous in goal with 30 saves and Erin Walsh was fierce on defense, tallying a defenisve save as well. Sarah Frye played with tenacity at center back and Ali Ladue set the tone at center mid. Both Lauren Koczlea and Kristen Maclellan had nice attempts at goals. Although it was a loss, it was a game played well and with pride. JV:The junior trojans dominated the first half, but could not find the net. In the second half it was all Barnstable and they capitalized when it counted and scored twice.
10/15 Varsity vs New Bedford: The Lady Trojans tallied their 10th win on Saturday against the strong and aggressive New Bedford Whalers. Ali Ladue scored the first goal off of an assist from Lauren Koczela and Kristen Macllelan scored the second two goals off passes from Lauren Koczela and Kelsey Donahue. Audrey Dolloff was strong in net; coming up with 21 saves. Sarah Frye was a standout at center mid and Erin Walsh took charge on defense. JV: The Trojans were shorthanded and pulled off a tie game against the Whalers today. Ally Chappell had a tremendous game in net with 10 saves and another shut-out. Freshmen: the B-R freshman girls traveled to New Bedford. They were victorious over the Whalers with a score of 1-0. The lone goal was scored by Abby Wilbar. Our girls played their positions well and kept pace with the fast action of the game.
10/13 Varsity vs Durfee: The B-R field hockey team qualified for the tournament yesterday with their 3-0 win over Durfee! Audrey Dolloff had 7 saves to clench her 4th shutout and Erin Walsh was a standout once again in the defensive zone. Kristen Macllellan tallied 2 goals and Lauren Koczela scored one as well (assisted by Lauren Gray). Sarah Frye and Ali Ladue set the tone in the midfield. BR faces New Bedford on Saturday at home at 2:00pm.
10/11 Varsity vs Dartmouth: The lady Trojans pulled off another close one in a 3-2 win over league opponents Dartmouth yesterday. Gina Nelson scored the first goal, while Sarah Frye scored the second, and Ali Ladue tallied the game winner late in the second half. Lauren Koczela added another assist to her stats and Audrey Dolloff had 12 saves in goal. Kelsey Donahue was a standout in the midfield and Erin Walsh played with intensity and smarts on defense. JV: Gennie sarro scored from the post off a pass from Erin Donahue to tie the game in the first half. Megan Kenney and Gianna Scalasi played great on both sides of the ball. Eriin Kelley had three great saves and Ally Chappell secured her own shut out in the second half. Freshmen vs Taunton: The BR freshman girls were victorious over Taunton 3-0. Goals were scored by Tess Arrighi, Shannon LaDue, and Abby Wilbar. Defense was strong led by Jenny Heller, Haley Wayne and Liz Magee. Nicole Brown was in goal and stopped all advances on net. The forwards Molly Page, Molly Desrochers, Carina Giovannone, Kelsey Alger, and Shannon Ladue all played strong. The Mid-fielders Andrea Rota, Angela Correira, and Tess Arrighi fought hard to keep the ball away from our goal.
10/7 Varsity vs Plymouth South: B-R edged past Plymouth South in the 2-1 non league win on Friday. Kelly Alberti scored the first goal off of an assist from Lauren Koczela and Lauren K scored a goal of her own from Kristen MacLellan. Adurey Dolloff had 11 saves in net. Sarah Frye, Kelsey Donahue, and Gina Nelson played with tenacity in the midfield, while Ali Ladue was a standout on offense. JV: On a chilly afternoon in Plymouth the JV played an equally matched Plymouth South team. Erin Kelly and Ally Chappell shared the shutout with 5 combined saves.
10/5 Varsity vs Durfee: B-R field hockey gained another W beating Durfee 5-0 on Thursday. Lauren Koczela tallied her first hat trick of the season and also had one assist. Lauren Gray and Ali Ladue had a goal a piece and Kristen Maclellan had one assist. Audrey Dolloff had 10 saves for her third shutout of the season. Tenacious play from Sarah Frye, Gina Nelson, Kelsey Donahue, and Erin Walsh. JV: Playing 6 on 6 made for a very open field and allowed everyone to take full advantage of their developing skills. Angela Corriea at sweeper was Key to Erin Kelley and Ally Chappell's combined shutout. Molly Derochers had 2 goals, Molly Page had a goal and an assist. Gennie Sarro netted the second goal off a beautiful pass from Gianna Scalasi.
10/4 Varsity vs Taunton: B-RFH gained a league victory yesterday in the 6-0 win over Taunton. Ali Ladue and Kristen MacLellan both scored 2 goals and got one assist, while Kelly Alberti and Nicole Kemmit picked up one goal each. Lauren Koczela tallied her 7th assist of the season and Sarah Frye assisted one goal as well. Audrey Dolloff saved 10 shots for her second shutout of the season. All varsity and swing members contributed to this win! B-R faces Durfee at home today and Plymouth South away tomorrow. JV: Both, Megan Kenny and Courtney Sullivan scored unassisted goals off a breakaway. Ally Chappell had 5 saves in net and Brittney Elliot, Sarah Williams, Siobhan Estabrook and Gianna Scalasi were strong on defense. Freshmen: The B-R freshman girls played Taunton and lost 1-0. Every girl played hard and has shown great improvement.
10/3 Varsity vs West Bridgewater: While bouts of the game were played with tenacity and persistance, our second face-off against West Bridgewater proved that there is no time in a 60 minute game for let downs. Ali Ladue scored BR's one goal in the 3-1 loss and Audrey Dolloff had 20 saves in net. Shae OConnell had a defensive save and Erin Walsh was a standout on defense as well. BR plays back-to-back-to-back games Wednesday against league opponent Taunton,, Thursday against Durfee, and Friday against Plymouth South. JV: Haley Murray scored early in the first half off a pass from Brittany Elliot to give the Trojans the lead. Siobhan Estabrook, Gennie Sarro, Brianna Borghetti, Megan Kenney and Angela Corriea were able to secure the win on defense. Ally Chappell had her 3rd shutout.
9/30 Varsity vs Brockton: The B-R Lady Trojans walked away with another W against the Brockton Boxers on Friday in the 4-1 non league game. Senior Ali Ladue tallied two goals, while juniors Kelsey Donahue and Kelly Alberti each scored one. Captain Lauren Koczela snagged two assists, and Kristen MacLellan assisted one as well. Audrey Dolloff had 11 saves in goal. JV: Jessie DiCarlo had 3 goals and one assist against a young Brockton team. Erin Donahue, Nicole Kemmit and Cindy Henrique each netted a goal. Haley Murray played strong in the forward line with an assist. Brittney Elliot played well on defense with an assit as well. Ally Chappell had 5 saves in goal.
9/28 Freshmen vs Old Rochester: Once again Old Rochester defeated the BR freshman girls. Our girls played a rugged game and it was a hard fought loss.
9/27 Varsity vs Barnstable: Lauren Gray scored the lone goal off an assist from Lauren Koczela with four minutes left in the game in yesterdays 8-1 defeat to Barnstable. Ali Ladue was a standout at center midfield. Good efforts from Gina Nelson, Katie Phieffer, Kelly Alberti, Kristen Maclellan and Erin Walsh. Audrey Dolloff had 27 saves in goal. JV: The first half of the game was played very well by the B-R junior varsity trojans. Gennie Sarro, Siobhan Estabrook and Brittany Elliot played well on defense. Molly Page, Erin Donahue and Abby Murphy were strong in the forward line. The second half was all Barnstable and they capataized on our poor positioning and lack of communication. Ally Chappell had 7 saves in net.
9/23 Freshmen vs Old Rochester: Although the freshman girls played thier hearts out, they were defeated by Old Rochester.
9/22 Varsity vs Plymouth South: B-R pulled off the 5-4 win in a close call against Plymouth South. Kristen MacLellan set the tone on the forward line scoring the first three goals of the game (and tallying her second career hat trick). Lauren Koczela assisted one of Kristen's goals and Ali Ladue assisted the other two. Later in the game Lauren Grey and Lauren Koczela each scored a goal of their own. Sarah Frye and Gina Nelson were integral parts of the game in the midfield. Solid play from Kelly Alberti on attack and Erin Walsh on defense. Audrey Dolloff had 10 saves in goal. BR is now 3-1 and faces Barstable in the OCL match up on Tuesday. JV: The junior varsity trojans had only 30 minutes to play after a delayed varsity game this afternoon. The girls on the field played hard and dominated for much of the game. Keeper Ally Chappell had 5 saves in net and earned her first junior varsity shut out. Meghan Kenney was aggressive in the midfield and Haley Murray was dominant on the forward line.
9/20 Varsity vs Dartmouth: The lady Trojans tallied their first league win yesterday with a 2-0 victory over Dartmouth. Kristen Maclellan scored both goals, the first off of an assist from Lauren Koczela and the second with a flick over the goalie. Ali Ladue controlled the field from the center mid position, dodging defenders, opening up passing lanes, and creating scoring opportunities. Audrey Dolloff was a standout in net; coming up with 25 saves and Shae OConnell claimed her first defensive save, stopping a shot to the far right corner of the net. Other standouts included, Kelly Alberti on the forward line, Gina Nelson in the midfield, and Erin Walsh and Kendall McDonough on defense. B-R faces Plymouth South this Thursday. JV: Kudos to Cindy Henrique for stepping up and trying the pads on when we didn't have a goalie. She played tough with 9 saves and earned herself a shut-out! Brianna Borghetti helped on defense with a great defensive save. Freshmen, Molly Desrochers, Molly Page and Angela Correia were all assets to our team today, and shined on the field. Gianna Scalasi played smart in the midfield.
9/13 Varsity vs New Bedford: B-R field hockey came home with a 3-2 win over New Bedford yesterday. Senior and captain Sarah Frye scored the first goal off of an assist from senior and captain, Lauren Koczella. Lauren scored a goal of her own, assisted by senior Ali Ladue and then senior Lauren Gray tallied the game winner, off of an assist from Lauren Koczella. The win was a team effort all the way from senior, captain Audrey Dolloff in the cage (10 saves), Erin Walsh, Shae OConnell, Katie Phieffer, and Kendall McDonough on defense, to Stephanie Hardy, Gina Nelson, and Kelsey Donahue in the midfield and lastly Kristen Maclellan and Kelly Alberti on attack. JV: It was a hard fought game by the trojans junior varsity field hockey team. The girls learned that communication and positioning is key to every game. With many players playing in new positions, it took the first half to get the swing of things. We played much better in the second half, but unfortunately it wasnt enough. Our next meeting with the Whalers will have different outcome! Freshmen: The Bridgewater-Raynham Freshman field hockey team was victorious over New Bedford High School winning their first game 1-0. The girls looked great and played well as a team.
9/9 Varsity vs West Bridgewater: The Lady Trojans faced a strong and skilled West Bridgewater on their home opener Friday afternoon. Although B-R lost 3-0, the Trojans defense was strong. Senior and captain, Audrey Dolloff, had 20 saves in net, while Erin Walsh took charge at center back. Other defensive standouts include, Shae OConnell, Katie Phieffer, Kendall McDonough, Sarah Frye, and Lauren Gray. B-R field hockey faces New Bedford on Tuesday September 13th. JV: The JV field hockey team dominated much of the 50 minutes played against a young West Bridgewater team. Thanks to many players stepping up in new position we were able to score 3 goals, which could be a JV record for an opening game! Jess DiCarlo scored the first goal off a pass from CoCo Kemmit in the first half. Swing player Haley Murray stepped up to the plate at forward, with a goal and an assit in the second half. Desi Chase scored off a keepers mistake to secire the 3 - 0 lead late in the second half. Meghan Kenney, Brianna Borghetti, Gennie Sarro, Siobhan Estabrook and Brittany Eliot all contributed to Erin Kelly's shut-out. |
