Match Notes 2012 Season
10/25 Varsity vs West Bridgewater: JV:
The Junior varsity team finished a successful season defeating West Bridgewater with a score of 2-1.
10/19 Varsity vs Braintree:
BR lost to Braintree 3-0. Good efforts from captains Kelly Aliberti and Kelsey Donahue and forwards Sam Clementino, Jackie Kern, and Coco Kemmit. Defensive attempts from Haley Murray, Claudia Gonzalez, and Katie Phieffer. Ally Chappell had 7 saves in net. The Lady Trojans play their final game this Thursday against West Bridgewater.JV:
In a wet game, Siobhan Estabrook scored in the first half off a pass from Jenny Heller. Defensively, we dominated the game thanks to strong efforts from Katie Hogan, Erin Donahue, Abby Murphy, Taylor Poulin, Elise McGovern and Sarah Williams. The junior varsity will play their last game this Thursday against West Bridgewater on our home turf field.
10/15 Varsity vs Brockton:
BR field hockey beat Brockton 6-2. Nicole Kemmit scored the first three goals for the Trojans, tallying her second hatrick of the season. Captain Kelly Aliberti, followed up with two more goals and the last one was scored by sophomore Molly Desrochers. Steph Hardy tallied four assists and sophomore Molly Page had one assist as well. Ally Chappell had 10 saves in net. JV:
Abby Murphy played solid defense to help Brittany Elliot earn another shut-out. Sam Wilder was on fire offensively. Taylor Poulin had 1 goal and 2 assists. Jenny Heller and Siobhan Estabrook each added a goal. Sarah Williams had an assist.
10/12 Varsity vs Plymouth South:
Although the game was tied 1-1 at half time and still remained close with a score of 3-2 with only 12 minutes left in the game, the Lady Trojans ended up losing 6-2 to Plymouth South. Kelly Aliberti scored the first goal off of an assist from Coco Kemmit and sophomore Andrea Rota scored the second off of an assist from Kelsey Donahue. Ally Chappell was strong in net, once again, coming up with 26 saves. Katie Phieffer was intense and deliberate on defense. The Lady Trojans have 3 games left and are looking to finish the season with some wins. JV: The Trojans JV got their groove back on Friday afternoon. Shannon Ladue and Jenny Heller scored for the Trojans. Taylor Poulin assisted Shannon's goal. Katie Hogan, Abby Wilbar and Abby Murphy played strong on defense, while Cindy Henrique, Elise McGovern and Emily Schwarts were an integral part of the offense.
10/9 Varsity vs Dartmouth:
JV:
Siobhan Estabrook sent a hard shot to net and Sarah Williams assured it in to give the Trojans the lead in the second half after a scoreless first. Unfortunately in the last few minutes, the Indians secured the win adding a second goal past keeper Brittany Elliot. Tremendous passing from Elise McGovern, Emily Schwarts, Erin Donahue and Sam Wilder kept BR in the game. Jenny Heller played aggressive on offense.
10/5 Varsity vs Falmouth:
BR lost another tough one on Friday with a 4-1 score to the Falmouth Clippers. Senior, captain Kelly Aliberti scored another goal off of junior Meagan Kenney's assist. Kelsey Donahue gave 110% in the midfield once again and Ally Chappell was strong in the net, tallying 22 saves. BR faces league opponent Dartmouth on Tuesday away and is looking to gain a W. JV:
Poor team cohesion led to this loss on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Nothing was clicking on the field and Falmouth capitalized on every aspect of the game.
10/2: Varsity vs Barnstable:
Altough the Lady Trojans fought hard for the full 60 minute game, they walked away with a 3-1 loss against league opponents Barnstable. Kelly Aliberti scored the goal off of an assist from Kelsey Donahue, who was a standout in the midfield. Ally Chappell was tremendous is goal, diving, splitting, and in the end, making and unheard of 35 saves! Offensive pressure from forwards Coco Kemmit, Steph Hardy, Jackie Kern, and Sam Clementino. Impressive efforts from midfielders Molly Desrochers, Molly Page, Meagan Kenney, and Haley Murray. Strong defensive marking from Katie Phieffer, Angela Correia, and Claudia Gonzalez. JV:
In a game that was called off and then on again due to rain, the girls tried their best without a keeper for 30 minutes! A special thanks goes out to sophomore, Emily Schwarts for majorly stepping it up and putting on the pads (which were way to big) once the game started. She exemplified what it means to be a team player!
9/27 Varsity vs Dartmouth:
The Lady Trojans lost to Dartmouth 1-0 yesterday, but it was a hard fought battle until the very last second, with 6 shots on goal in the last minute of play. Ally Chappell was huge in net with 24 saves. Captains Kelsey Donahue and Kelly Aliberti set the tone on the field, giving 110% effort from start to finish and Katie Phieffer commanded the defense with intensity. JV:
The girls played hard against an always strong Dartmouth squad. You cant win if you cant score. We will be goal hungry next week! Freshmen: After a tough battle in Dartmouth on Thursday the Indians managed to sneak one by the strong BR defense to win the league match up 1-0. Abby Randall had 6 saves in net. Kitty Perry and Alli Murphy played well on the field.
9/25 Varsity vs Durfee:
BR field hockey pulled off the win against Durfee yesterday, with a final score of 5-4. Goal scorers were Kelsey Donahue (1 goal and 1 assist), Kelly Aliberti, Coco Kemmit (2 goals), and Jack Kern. Senior, Sam Clementino, also tallied an assist. Ally Chappell had 8 saves in net. JV:
Brittany Elliot is showing strength and poise in the net as she has recorded her 4th shut out! Abby Murphy, Katie Hogan and Taylor Poulin played strong in the back field. Shannon Ladue scored both goals for the Trojans.
9/24 Varsity vs Plymouth South:
The Lady Trojans closed up the gap near the end of the second half with a 3-2 score, but unfortunately lost control defensively and allowed 3 more goals in the second half, ending with a score of 6-2. Ally Chappell had 14 saves in net. Coco Kemmit tallied a goal and an assist, while Jackie Kern scored a goal of her own off of an assist from center mid Kelsey Donahue. Strong efforts from captain Kelly Aliberti.
JV: Taylor Poulin has continued to show accuracy in shooting with 2 unassisted goals in the victory against Plymouth South. Siobhan Estabrook found the back of the net off a pass from Sarah Williams. Shannon Ladue was persistent in the circle and scored the last goal in a scuffle in front of the net. Emily Schwarts set up many plays for the offense and Katie Hogan was a standout defensively. Freshman Elise MacGovern showed leadership in the midfield.
9/22 Varsity vs Falmouth:
BR faced Falmouth on Friday and while they played defensively, could not pull off the win and lost 4-0. Sophomore Ally Chappell was strong in goal again with 16 saves. Angela Correia had a defensive tallied her third defensive save and Katie Phieffer, Claudia Gonzalez, Gennie Sarro, and Molly Desrochers worked hard in the backfield.JV:
In a 30 minute short game BR went out early and scored to pull off a win against a strong Falmouth team. Implementing what we had worked on in practice, helped the Trojans keep the lead. Taylor Poulin Scored early for BR and Brittany Elliot had another shut out! Great effort put forth by all 12 girls!
9/21 Freshmen vs Apponequet:
The first tie game of the year for the Freshmen FH team came at the hands of the visitning Apponequet Lakers. The Lakers were strong and athletic and gave us a run for our money. Abby Randall played well in net with 5 saves. The lone goal was scored by Hannah Sylvia on a text book pass across the front of the net from Deaven DeFransisco. Hannah was in perfect position on her left post and fired the ball into the goal.
9/20 Varsity vs Barnstable:
BR field hockey came home from Barnstable last night with a 1-1 tie. With a new set up and a new mind set for the lady Trojans, it was a whole different game out there. Ally Chappell showed the Red Raiders who was boss tallying 19 saves! Senior Jackie Kern scored off of an assist from Nicole Kemmit. Good efforts on the forward line from Kelly Aliberti and Sam Clementino. Strength in the midfield from Steph Hardy, Kelsey Donahue, Meagan Kenney, Molly Page, and Haley Murray. Big congrats to defenders Angela Correia, Molly Desrochers, Katie Phieffer, Claudia Gonzalez, and Gennie Sarro, for learning and implementing a new defensive strategy! JV:
It was a close game in Barnstable but the Red Raiders came out on top.
9/17 Varsity vs West Bridgewater:
The lady Trojans faced a fierce West Bridgewater on Tuesday and swallowed a 6-0 loss. Ally Chappell came up with 14 saves. Angela Correia, Claudia Gonzalez, Katie Phieffer, and Gennie Sarro all worked hard on defense. The Trojans continued to hustle for the full 60 minutes, but need to work on being more aggressive.JV:
Early in the second half Elise McGovern sent a hard shot to the left corner of the goal and Sarah Williams assured it in the net. Siobhan Estabrook tallied the second goal of the game. Taylor Poulin and Katie Hogan were standouts on defense. Erin Donahue, Sarah Williams, Abby Wilbar, Emily Schwartz and Cindy Henrique played hard on offense.
9/14 Varsity vs New Bedford:
The BR field hockey team faced a skilled and fast New Bedford and lost 7-1. Sophomore, Molly Desrochers, scored the lone goal off of an assist from captain, Kelly Alberti. Sophomore goalie, Ally Chappell, had 12 saves in net. Sophomore, Angela Correia, tallied her second defensive. Good efforts from captain, Kelsey Donahue at center midfield. JV:
Brittany Elliot had a great game in net with 10 saves to earn the shut out! She was assisted defensively by Abby Wilbar, Katie Hogan and Jenny Heller. Cindy Henrique and Elise McGovern put the points on the board, while Siobhan Estabrook, Emily Schwartz and Taylor Poulin all put pressure on the Whalers defense. Freshmen: The Freshmen field hockey team earned their second win as well as the second shutout of the season as they beat the New Bedford Whalers 5-0 on Friday. Abby Randall lead the team in net and earned her first shut out of her career. Carly Doulette lead the team in scoring with 2 goals(asists by Ali Murphy and Melanie Newberg) while Hannah Sylvia, Deaven DeFransisco (one assist), and Bailey Barstad each scored a goal. Bridget Newbury also had one assist. The team appreciates all of their fans who traveled to New Bedford to support them and cheer them on!!!
9/10 Varsity vs Brockton:
B-R field hockey came out strong against Brockton, taking a 4-1 lead early in the game and finishing with a 6-1 final score. Jackie Kern scored the first goal off of an assist from Steph Hardy, who later scored a goal of her own. Nicole "Coco" Kemmit scored the second goal and also picked up an assist, followed by two goals and an assist from captain Kelly Alberti. Sam Clementio scored late in the game off of an assist from captain and center midfielder Kelsey Donahue and sophomore Molly Desrochers picked up an assist as well. JV: It was a long 50 minutes for the BR junior varsity, after the first 17 minutes and 6 goals, we had to minizimize shots on net, by passing in the circle. The girls showed class for the remainder of the game. The points were scored early by Taylor Poulin (2g 1a) Cindy Henrique (1g) Emily Schwarts (1g 1a) Sam Wilder ( 1g) Sarah Williams (1g) and Erin Donahue (1a). Katelyn Hogan, Jenny Heller, Siobhan Estabrook and Shannon Ladue were major contributors.
9/6 Varsity vs Hingham:
The B-R field hockey team lost 4-1 to Hingham. Ally Chappell had 12 saves in goal. Kelly Alberti scored the lone goal late in the second half and Kelsey Donahue was a standout at center mid. JV: The junor varsity had a tough game in Hingham. It was hot and our bench was empty. Big thanks to Brittany Elliot who stepped up to play goal and saved 7 hard shots on net. Freshmen: The BR Freshmen girls field hockey team earned their first win of the season with a hard fought battle against Hingham. Rachael Whittemore earned her first shut out of the season in net and held the visiting Harborwomen at bay with the strong defensive play of Bailey Barstad,Norah Cochran, Bridget Newburg, Kitty Perry, and Devin DeFransisco. The win was truly a team effort with phenominal passing, great field positioning, and pressuring the opposing goalie with 14 shots on net. Devin DeFransisco got the assist on Taylor Poulin's game winning goal. Strong offensive play by Elise McGovern, Ally Murphy, Melanie Newberg, Abby Randall, Emma Bulman, and Hannah Sylvia.
9/4 Varsity vs Durfee:
The Lady Trojans started their season off with a 3-1 win over Durfee yesterday. Senior, Nicole Kemmit, scored the first two goals off of assists from captain, Kelly Alberti and senior, Jackie Kern, scored the third goal off of an assist from captain, Kelsey Donahue. Sophomore goalie Ally Chappell had 8 saves in net and sophomore Angela Correia has a defensive save. JV: The Trojan JV field hockey team played together and pulled out a win over a young Durfee team. Sarah Williams was our lead scorer with 3 goals and an assist. Siobhan Estabrook, Elise McGovern, Cindy Henrique, Abby Wilbar, Sam Wilder and Taylor Poulin were major contributors in the win. Abby Murphy stepped up to play goal and earned a shut-out.
