History
The Friends are parents of student-athletes at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School who organized a few years ago to raise funds for the varsity jackets, scholarships, award banquets, etc. In 2004 that all changed when all funding for athletics was eliminated from the school budget. The focus of the Friends organization shifted from providing funds for the "extras" to funding operational costs so the athletic program could continue to operate. The Friends accomplished this with the help of the Bridgewater and Raynham citizens and area businesses. With the completion of the new high school the Friends have gone back to funding the "extras" and team and individual awards (letters, pins, plaques and banquets for championship teams). The Friends have taken on the task of equipping both the outside and inside concession stands at the new high school as well as outfitting a new school store. In addition the Friends have purchased a scorer table for the gym which can be used for all indoor sports.

Incorporation/Non-Profit Status
It was during the summer of 2004 that the Friends formalized the organization. This was accomplished with the help of Colleen Karsner, PC (Karsner & Meehan) who provided the legal expertise and leg work for the Friends to incorporate. Incorporation was achieved on August 27, 2004. Another milestone was reached when the Friends were granted 501(c)3 Non-profit status late in the fall retroactive to the date of incorporation. This was primarily due to the work and guidance of Mike Leahy of Jennings, Cody & Leahy, Certified Public Accountants.

Purpose
The stated purpose of the organization as written in the Articles of Organization is: support the student-athletes and the athletic programs at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.

Meetings
The Friends of B-R Athletics meet at least once a month to discuss and plan activities which will raise funds to support the athletic program at the high school. Normally meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Faculty Dinning Room at the high school.

Membership
Membership is open to all individuals who wish to support the B-R High School athletic program. Voting is restricted to to those individuals who have attended 50 % of the past six months meetings.
