For the last four years the Friends of B-R Athletics (with your help) have donated over $250,000 to the Regional School District to help cover the high school athletic program operating costs. The Friends have also provided $8,000 for scholarships to graduating senior athletes.

Prior to the opening of the new high school (September 07) the Friends informed the School Committee that it would no longer be the norm for the Friends to fund operational costs normally associated with a school athletic program, (transportation, officials, uniforms and equipment). The Friends felt that with a new high school opening it was time for the the athletic department to be fully funded by the school district budget. The Friends wanted to get back to funding the extras in addition to providing varsity letters, pins, plaques, and funds for banquets for teams that win championships.

So far the extras the Friends have funded is the equipping both inside and outside concession stands, a new school store and purchasing a scorers table for indoor sports, wrestling mat, a tumble track for the cheerleaders, a basketball shooting machine for girls and boys basketball, baseball pitching machine and mats to cover the gym floor in the batting cages, stop watches for the track teams and other sports, scrimmage vests for girls socer and field hockey and a count down timer for the field hockey team and a whirlpool for the training room. The Friends goal this year is to raise $100,000 to continue it's goal of supporting the athletes and athletic program at B-R.

The athletic department continues to operate on a bare bones budget and User Fees remain at $250. The Friends are committed to doing all that they can to help out and look forward to your continuing support.
