Meet Notes 2011 - 2012 Season
1/30 vs Brockton: The Trojans ended their regular season with a win over the Brockton boxers, Monday 1/30 at home at spectrum gymnastics. The Trojans received their highest season score of a 133.0 to brockton's 119.1. The outstanding performances came from senior captain Kathryn Stoehr on balance beam matching her season high of an 8.6. Kathyrn also got the 2nd highest floor score of an 8.4. Senior captain josh cannon also came through with an 8.2 on vault and a season high on floor with a 7.5. Junior captain MVP Mary Korotsky had a great meet with an 8.9 on vault a 8.7 on uneven bars a 9.0 on both floor and balance beam. Freshmen Courtney Sullivan and Erica Johnson received their season highs on both uneven bar and balance beam, with Erica receiving a 8.0 on bars and an 8.4 on beam. Courtney received an 8.4 for her bar routine and a 8.5 on beam. The Trojans will end the regular season with a 3-2-1 record which is much improved over last years season of 1-6. The Trojans next competition will be the cranberry league meet 2-11 at somerset middle school.
1/28 vs Marshfield: The Trojans had a very rare tie competition against the Rams from marshfield at home on Saturday 1/28. Each team delivered a 129.5, which is the Trojans second highest score of the 2012 season. Some noteworthy performances came from senior captain Kathryn with her season high and personal best scores on vault with an 8.9 and balance beam with a 8.6. Junior captain Mary Korotsky had her personal best meet of the year scoring a 36.1 all around, with a 9.3 on vault, 8.8 on uneven bars, 9.0 on floor and balance beam. Senior captain josh cannon had a season high vault score of an 8.4, and freshmen Erica Johnson and Courtney Sullivan both has personal best today, with Erica receiving an 8.3 on vault and Courtney on beam with an 8.1. The Trojans have their last regular season meet at home on Monday 1/30 at home at spectrum gymnastics at 8pm against Brockton.
1/16 vs Rockland/Hanover: The Trojans had an upset against the team from rockland/ Hanover on 1/16. The Trojans Trojans had the lead after their first two rotations on vault and bars. Where junior captain Mary Korotsky had the highest scores of the meet with an 8.9 on vault and an 8.8 on uneven bars. Freshmen Courtney Sullivan had a great bar routine for an 8.1 and Erica Johnson stuck her vault for an 8.2. The Trojans lost their lead and pretty much the competition on balance beam in their third rotation. The Trojans had to count 7 falls on this event which was a total of 3 1/2 points lost due to falls. The Trojans tried to come back on floor with senior captain's kathryn stoehr's 7.8 Courtney Sullivan's 7.9 and Mary korotsky's 9.0 but couldn't make up for their beam performance. The trojans lost the meet with a 127.05 to rockland/ hanover's 130.4.
1/14 vs Hingham: The Trojans won their competition on Saturday 1/14 against Hingham at home at Spectrum Gymnastics. The Trojans received their season high score of a 130.6 to Hingham's 120.9. Junior captain Mary Korotsky won all 4 events receiving two all time best scores of a 9.3 on vault and 9.4 on floor exercise. She also received a 8.7 for her uneven bar routine and a respectable 8.4 on balance beam. Senior captain Kathryn Stoehr received her season best scores on 3 events scoring a 8.4 vault, 7.9 on bars and 8.5 on floor. Freshman Erica Johnson and Courtney Sullivan both put in excellent effort with Erica scoring an 8.1 on vault and and Courtney an 8.2 on floor. The Trojans next competition is at home at Spectrum Gymnastics Center on Monday 1/16 at 1:00pm against the team from Rockland/Hanover.
1/12 vs Cohasset/Norwell: The Trojans won their first gymnastics competition on Thursday 1/12 against the Cohasset/Norwell team at MGC Hingham. The Trojans were lead by junior captain Mary Korotsky. Mary scored the highest on 3 of the four events with an 8.7 on uneven bars, 8.5 on floor and an outstanding 9.1 on vault. Senior captain Kathryn Stoehr posted consistent scores on beam with an 8.0 and vault with an 8.1. Freshman Courtney Sullivan stepped up to plate in only her second high school competition and received the 3rd highest score of the night on uneven bars with 8.0. The Trojans scored an 122.8 points to Cohasset/Norwell team of 121.15.
1/6 vs Norte Dame Academy: The lady Trojans had their first competition on Friday 1/6 against 2011 Cranberry League champions Norte Dame Academy. The Trojans scored a 124.92 which wasn't enough to catch NDA's 140.5. Some noteworthy performances came from junior captain Mary Korotsky. Mary scored an 8.7 on uneven bars and balance beam and an 8.9 on floor exercise. We are very happy to have Mary back as an all around competitor this season, due to last season Mary was limited to an ongoing injury. Senior captain Kathryn stoehr also had a good meet scoring an 8.3 on floor exercise and 7.7 on balance beam despite to falls. We are also glad Kathryn has recovered from knee injury last season that took her out a majority of the season. Some new faces this season are Nicole brown on vault, Courtney Sullivan on bars beam and floor and Erica Johnson on vault bars and beam. Senior captain Josh Cannon is battling an injury and we hope to see more of him in the up coming meets.
