Meet Notes 2012 - 2013 Season
2/12 Div 2 Cranberry League Championship: The Lady Trojans had their final competition of the 2012-2013 season on Tuesday 2/12. The Trojans hosted the Division 2 Cranberry League championships at Spectrum Gymnastics. This competition is an individual competition for the gymnasts from the schools of B-R , Brockton, Silver Lake/Pembroke, Cohasset/ Norwell, and Case/ Seeknok/ Somerset/ Berkley. The Trojans had a great day with Senior Captain Mary Korotsky winning the All Around event with a 35.55 , scoring a 9.2 on vault, 8.5 on bars a personal high 9.05 on be and an 8.8 on floor. Senior captain Maureen Murphy was 7th on beam with a personal high of a 7.95 and was 6th on floor with the same score. Sophomore Courtney Sullivan was 6th on bars with a 7.3 and was 3rd on beam with a 8.45. The Trojans season is complete , expect for Senior Captain Mary Korotsky who qualified for the MHSGC State Individual Competition on Saturday 2/16, where she will compete on Vault, bars and floor. Also Mary will be trying to be elected to the Massachusetts Senior National Team which will be decided that day.
1/24 vs Hingham: The Lady Trojans had their final regular season competition away against HIngham on Thursday 1/24. The Trojans 117.7 wasn't enough against HIngham's 122.75. The Trojans had to count falls on all 4 events for the first time this season, which lead to their loss. However, senior captain Mary Korotsky had a great meet on vault scoring a 9.2 and floor with a career high 9.25. Sophomore Courtney Sullivan had two strong events as well , on beam with an 8.3 and floor with an 8.35. The Trojans final competition of the 2013 season will the Cranberry league championships held on February ninth at home at Spectrum Gymnastics.
1/21 vs Brockton & Marshfield: The Trojans had their final regular season home competition on Monday 1/21 against Brockton and Marshfield. The Trojans scored a 122.55 which was enough to take their first win of the season over Brockton who scored a 119. 45. However the Trojans score wasn't enough against Marshfield'a 125.3. Senior captain Mary Korotsky received her first 9.3 on vault in her career which was the highest score of the meet. Mary also out scored the competition on bars with an 8.7 beam with an 8.4 and floor with a 9.0. Sophomore Courtney Sullivan had her all time best floor performance for an 8.5. Senior captain Maureen Murphy also had a great floor routine with a 7.9. The Trojans last regular season competition will be Thursday 1/24 away at Hingham.
1/19 vs Oliver Ames: The Lady Trojans had their first out of league competition at home against the Tigers from Oliver Ames on January 19th. The Trojans were defeated by the Tigers, 136.3 to 122.7. With only 5 members of the team able to compete today, the Trojans received their 2nd highest score of season. Senior captain Mary Korotsky had the top scores of competition on vault (9.0) balance beam (8.8) and floor (9.0). Mary also had a personal high score of 9.0 on bars. Sophomore Courtney Sullivan had the 3rd highest beam score of the meet with a 8.5 and the 4th highest score on floor with an 8.4. Senior captain Maureen Murphy had personal best results on bars 7.2 and beam 7.6. The Trojans also had strong performances from freshmen Jenna Barbati ( vault, beam and floor )and Jennie Ferrini ( vault and bars). The Trojans next competition is at home Monday January 21 against Brockton and Marshfield at Spectrum Gymnastics.
1/9 vs Cohasset/Norwell: The lady Trojans had their 1st away competition in 1/9 against Cohasset /Norwell. The Trojans scored a 116. Which wasn't enough to over take the Cohasset/ Norwell's 120.7. The Trojans were with out senior captain Maureen Murphy , which played a large part into the loss. Some key routines from the night came from senior captain Mary Korotsky who had the highest scores from either team on all four events. she scored a 9.1 on vault. bars was a 8.5 and floor with an 8.8. Mary and sophomore Courtney Sullivan were the only 2 two stay on the balance beam with Courtney scoring a 7.7 and Mary with an 8.4. Courtney also had the 2nd highest floor score of the night with a 8.3.
1/7 vs Norte Dame Academy: The lady Trojans had their 2nd competition of the 2013 season. The Trojans hosted the gymnasts from Norte Dame Academy on Monday 1/7 at Spectrum Gymnastics. The Trojans were defeated by the 3 time reigning Cranberry League North team champions with a 135.7 to the Trojans 123.5. Some key performances that helped Trojans get their season high team total came from Senior Captain Mary Korotsky on vault with a 8.9 on uneven bars with a 8.7 and balance beam with a season high 8.8. Sophomore Courtney Sullivan stayed consistent on both vault and floor with an 8.3 and had a career high 8.6 on balance beam. All the brand new freshmen gymnasts bettered their performance from Saturdays season opener, Jennie Ferrini scored a 8.2 on vault Kayla Ceserquist received a 8.0 on floor and Jenna Barbati went up on both vault with an 8.1 and balance beam with a 7.1. Senior captain Maureen Murphy scored a career high on floor with a 7.9. The Trojans will be at Cohasset/ Norwell on Wednesday 1/9 at 8:30pm
1/5 vs Rockland/Hanover: The Lady Trojans had their first competition of the season on Saturday January 5th at home at Spectrum Gymnastics. The Lady Trojans lost to Hanover/Rockland 119.9 to 121.9. Some of the highlights from competition were from Senior Captain Mary Korotsky, Mary scored personal best on Vault (9.1) and Floor (9.2). Other notable routines came from Sophomore Courtney Sullivan with an 8.3 on Vault and a personal best 8.3 on Floor. Senior Captain Maureen Murphy was the only Lady Trojan to stay on the balance beam today for a score of 7.4. The Lady Trojans have 5 Freshman compete for the first time today Jenna Barbati, Jenni Ferrini, Gillian Westcott, Kayla Cederquist and Alyssa Hernandez all had scores count towards the Trojans 119.9 team score. The Trojans next competition is at Home at Spectrum Gymnastics on Monday January 7th at 8:30pm against Notre Dame.
