Game Notes: 2007 - 2008 Season
South of Boston Shootout:
B-R went into the tournament unbeaten (6-0-1) in the last seven games but managed only one point in the three game stretch. The two losses came at the hands of Super 8 invitee Xaverian (7-1) and the fourth seeded team in the Division 1 South Sectionals, Marshfield (5-3). The Trojans tied Whitman-Hanson (for MIAA records) but won in overtime. Sophomore Josh Deangelis became the first Trojan player in school history to score in a shootout after three of his teammates failed on their attempts. Senior goalie Nick Ives stopped all four Panther players he faced in the shootout.

The 10th seeded Trojans will now play the number 7 seed Milton in the first round of the state tournament Tuesday at 5:30 pm at the Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne.

vs Taunton:
For just the third time in team history and all within the past six years BR (7-1) won the OCL championship by dismantling Taunton 11-0. Paul Scleparis' four goals led the way for the Trojans who jumped out to 3-0 lead after one period and 6-0 after two. Jimmy Weldon added two goals and two assists to his team leading point total. Brian Hughes, Mike O'Brien, Adam McGrath (1 assist) and Peter Bournazian also scored for BR. Sophomore Tyler Whealan notched his first goal in the third period while freshman defenseman Russell Bezanson added an assist for his first varsity point. Robbie St. Germain played well earning his second shutout of the season.
vs Attleboro:
Josh Deangelis' scored two third period goals to crush the hopes of an Attleboro upset, 4-1. Mike O'Brien and Paul Scleparis (2 assists) had second period goals after a scoreless first period. Nick Ives made 10 save in the win.
vs Martha's Vinyard:
Junior Billy Weinstein scored with just 3:59 remaining in the game to salvage a tie at the Vineyard, 3-3. Josh Deangelis and Mike O'Brien (1 assist) were the other goal scorers for the Trojans , who managed only nine shots on net. BR had trouble sustaining any offensive pressure having to kill eight (six successfully) MV power plays while only getting one opportunity of their own. Nick Ives had another strong performance making 32 saves.
vs Dartmouth:
Senior captain Nick Ives made 12 saves notching his third shutout of the season in BR's 4-0 win at home against Dartmouth. Freshman Chris Oien scored his first varsity goal with Mike O'Brien, Adam McGrath and Jimmy Weldon adding a goal and an assist each. The win means at least a second place finish in the league securing the Trojans a spot in the MIAA tournament for the third straight season and five out of the last six.
vs Barnstable:
In two previous meetings this season BR had not done a thing to prove they could beat the defending OCL champion Barnstable Red Raiders losing by a combined 16-4 score. Despite the two previous losses a victory last night would bring at least a share of the league title back to BR if they can win their last three OCL games. The Trojans did just that by blowing out the Red Raiders 7-1.
Paul Scleparis led the attack with a hat trick. Mike O'Brien (2 assists) and Adam McGrath (1 assist) each had two goals in the win. Jimmy Weldon (3 assists), Josh Deangelis (2 assists) and John Ross (2 assists) also had multiple point nights.
Nick Ives was spectacular in net making 32 saves including seven in the first five minutes of the game before his teammates settled in and turned on the pressure at the opposite end of the ice. JV B-R dominated. Dan Johndrow score 2 goals, Bill McNamarra 1.
vs Taunton:
BR goaltending recorded its second consecutive shutout beating rival Taunton 6-0. Senior Nick Ives made just 10 saves but needed to make two acrobatic stops in the final seconds of the game with two Trojans in the penalty box to preserve the shutout.
Jimmy Weldon(1 assist) scored his team leading 6th and 7th goals to pace the offense. Paul Scleparis (2 a), Brian Hughes and Billy Weinstein (1 a) also scored in the rout. Freshman Teddy Buckley notched his first varsity goal with assists going to Tyler Whealon and Brian Mahoney.
vs Attleboro:
Kyle O'Connell and Robbie St. Germain led the way for a much needed Trojans victory over OCL opponent Attleboro 8-0. O'Connell became the first B-R defenseman in at least 13 years to record a hat trick (3 goals) and St. Germain making just his second varsity start recorded his both his first win and shutout of his career. St. Germain made just 10 saves but seven came in the first period when Attleboro came out strong thinking of an upset. Mike O'Brien added two goals while Peter Bournazian had a goal and two assists. Jimmy Weldon and Billy Weinstein finished the scoring for B-R.
vs Whitman-Hanson:
The season long scoring slump continued for the Trojans losing to non-league foe Whitman-Hanson 2-1. Nick Ives made 30 saves to give his team a chance but only Paul Scleparis found the back of the Panthers net.
vs Barnstable:
B-R was outclassessed for the second time this season to last years south sectional runner up, Barnstable 10-3. Paul Scleparis, Kyle O'Connell and Adam McGrath were the goal scorers for the Trojans.
vs Dartmouth:
The Trojans came out on top in their first OCL game of the season defeating Dartmouth 3 - 1. Josh Deangelis notched two goals for B-R and Ryan Donovan one.
vs Martha's Vineyard:
The Trojans took the early lead on a Bill Weinstein goal but the Vineyard came back to score 3 to win.
vs Duxbury:
BR bounced back from their lost weekend in Falmouth tying the defending division one state champions Duxbury Dragons 2-2. The captains led the way for the Trojans with Nick Ives making 34 saves while Paul Scleparis and Kyle O'Connell scored the goals. Mike O'Brien, Ryan Donovan and Jimmy Weldon added assists.
vs Barnstable:
The third game of the Cape Cod Cup ended up much like the first, a lackluster Trojan performance ends in a 6-1 defeat to OCL rival Barnstable. Senior Peter Bournazian scored the only goal for BR and sophomore Robbie St. Germain made 22 save in in his first varsity start. BR is off to a 1-4 start and play defending state champs Duxbury next.
vs Franklin:
B-R held Franklin shotless in the third period during the second game of the Cape Cod Cup but still came out on the short end of a 2 -1 score. The Trojans peppered the Panthers goalie with 36 shots but only Paul Scleparis was able to find the back of the net. Nick Ives played well making 16 saves.
vs Falmouth:
B-R struggled early and often in the opener of the Cape Cod Cup losing big to host Falmouth 9-2. The Trojans fell behind 4 -0 in the first five minutes before Jimmy Weldon and Billy Weinstein closed the gap to two goals after one period. BR managed only four shots the rest of the game finishing with just eleven for the night.
JV:
the JV team scored 4 goals to down Middleboro. Scoring for B-R were: Dan Jondrow 2, Anthony Hardy 1, and Ryan Langley 1. Anthony Hardy and Matt Needham had 2 assists each. Paul
Morrissette got the win in net making 15 saves.

JV:
the got one goal from Matt Needham but it wasn't enough as MV scored 2.
vs Silver Lake: Varsity
a hot Silver Lake goalie kept the Trojans at bay except for one goal let in at 8:36 of the second period. The B-R squad fell behind 2 - 0 before Jimmy Weldon scored his goal with an assist from Josh Deangelis. Eventhought the Trojans put on relently pressure they couldn't get teh equalizer. The SL goalie turned away 37 shots. nick Ives made some super saves to keep the game in reach but the Trogans couldn't muster another goal. The JVs bounced back to post an impressive win over Silver Lake. Chris Cote had a shut-out in goal. Goals were scored by Dan Johndrow, John Scleparis, and Ryan Drowne
vs Marshfield JV
the junior Trojans could score a goal while giving up 3 to the Rams of Marshfield.
vs Stoughton:
the Varsity found the back of the net 7 times against Stoughton to win their season opener. Scoring for B-R Josh Deangelis, Jimmy Weldon, Ryan Donovan, Billy Weinstein, Mike O'Brien, Paul Scleparis, and Adam McGrath. Nick Ives earned the shutout. The JV played to a 0 - 0 tie with Barnstable as neither team could get on the scoreboard.
