Game Notes 2009 - 2010 Season
2/28 vs Marshfield, MIAA South Sectional Play-offs, Quarter Finals:
It took B-R to the third period to snap out of the funk they were in but they could find enough ways to get the puck by Marshfield's freshman goalie and lost 3-1 in the South Sectional Quarterfinals. The Trojans fired 26 of their 41 shots in the final period but got only a Josh Deangelis goal to show for it. It was a disappointing end for B-R which ends up 15-4-2, by far the best record in school history.
2/18 vs Xaverian, 4th annual South of Boston Shootout:
After a sluggish start in which BR was outshot 12-6 after one period the Trojans turned it on but could not figure out a tough Xaverian goaltender as they fell in the finals of the South of Boston Shootout 1-0. B-R did come out of the game with the confidence it can not only compete against one of the top 10 teams in the state but totally out play a Super 8 contender outshooting them over the last two periods 21-10. Robbie St. Germain made 21 saves and only a screened shot from an odd angle found the back of the net. The Trojans will now have a first round bye in the Division 1 South Sectionals and will most likely face Braintree, Marshfield or Natick in the 2nd round next weekend.
2/17 vs Franklin, 4th annual South of Boston Shootout:
Anthony Hardy continued his hot hand scoring B-R's lone goal on an assist from Ryan Donovan as the Trojans tied Franklin 1-1 in the second round of the South of Boston Shootout. For tournament purposes the two teams played a scoreless five minute overtime and the game had to be decided in a three man shootout.
Robbie St. Germain had made 20 saves during regulation and another 5 during o.t. allowed the first Panther shooter to score but stuffed the next two. Hardy tied the shootout going 5 hole on the Franklin goalie(32 saves) who like St. Germain had been stellar all night. Donovan had a chance to win it but lost the puck after having the goalie beat on a move to his forehand, which left the heroics up to Josh Deangelis who's deek left him with nothing but open net to shoot at for the game winner. B-R will now face Xaverian Thursday at 6:00 pm in the finals which very likely could have Super 8 implications.
2/15 vs Brockton, 4th annual South of Boston Shootout:
Ryan Donovan's assist of a Jimmy Weldon goal gave him 100 points for his career, he also added a goal of his own in the 8-1 win over Brockton in the 4th annual South of Boston Shootout. Anthony Hardy(1 assist) scored three times for his third hat trick of the season. Jon Hart, Tyler Whealan and Matt Ives also scored for the Trojans. Ives' goal was the first for the junior defenseman. BR also broke the record for wins in a season which it set last season, they now stand at 15-2-1. BR will next face D2 perennial powerhouse Franklin Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
2/13 vs Taunton:
Josh Deangelis and Adam McGrath scored two goals each to lead BR over Taunton 9-1. The win secured the Trojans second undefeated run through the OCL at 8-0 and an impressive 15-0-1 over the past two seasons. Jimmy Weldon and Ryan Donovan each tallied a goal and three assists while J.B. Sweeney scored his first Varsity goal. Tyler Whealan added an unassisted short handed goal and Anthony Hardy started the scoring for BR early in the first period when he redirected a Matt Hart slap shot into the back of the net. In his first Varsity appearance freshman Peter Drowne stopped 4 of the 5 shots he faced in relief of Dylan Joyce.
2/10 vs Attleboro:
The Trojans continued their domination of the OCL outshooting Attleboro 68-11 en route to a 6-1 victory. Teddy Buckley paced the offense scoring twice and Ryan Donovan added a goal and two assists leaving himself just 5 points shy of the century mark for his career. Junior Matt White tapped in a Brian McSherry rebound for his first Varsity goal. Jon Hart and Josh Deangelis also scored for B-R.
2/3 vs Barnstable:
B-R clinched it's third straight and five of the last seven Old Colony League championships with a 7-2 win over Barnstable. Anthony Hardy paced the offense scoring three times and assisting on another. Junior defenseman Pat McNamara scored his first Varsity goal on slap shot from the point, Teddy Buckley had the assist cleanly winning a face off back to the point. Ryan Donovan, Adam McGrath and Jon Hart also scored for the Trojans. Robbie St. Germain made 16 saves and Dylan Joyce stopped all 4 shots he saw in relief.
1/30 vs Dartmouth:
B-R pumped 55 shots on Dartmouth enroute to their 6-3 OCL win. Josh Deangelis scored his team leading 15th and 16th goals to pace the offense. Teddy Buckley, Ryan Donovan, Jimmy Weldon and Anthony Hardy also scored. Robbie St. Germain made 17 saves including 8 of 9 during Dartmouths nearly three minute 5 on 3 advantage to start the third period.
1/27 vs Duxbury:
Ryan Donovan scored his second goal of the game just 15 seconds into the third period to give B-R a 4-3 advantage but it was Josh Deangelis' goal with 1 second to play that saved the day for B-R, tying Duxbury 5-5. Jimmy Weldon and Anthony Hardy were the other Trojans goal scorers. B-R controlled the play all game long outshooting Duxbury 34-15.
1/23 vs Taunton:
Dylan Joyce earned the win in goal making his first Varsity start as BR qualified for the state tournament beating rival Taunton 12-2. 1/18 Varsity vs Whitman/Hanson:
Adam McGrath scored the game winner with less than two minutes remaining and Josh Deangelis' second goal of the game was an empty netter to give BR the 5-3 win at Whitman-Hanson. Anthony Hardy and Ryan Donovan scored second period goals and Robby St. Germain played solid in the win. BR is off to it's best start in school history at 8-2 (2-0 OCL).
1/13 Varsity vs Barnstable:

Anthony Hardy scored 2 goals to lead BR past Old Colony League foe Dartmouth 3-1. Jimmy Weldon found the back of the net as well and Robby St. Germain (18 saves) lost a bid at shutout when he was called for penalty to put the Trojans at a two man disadvantage. Dartmouth scored its goal with just 1:46 to play in the game.
1/6 Varsity vs Martha's Vineyard:
Ryan Donovan knocked in a rebound of a Chris Oien slapshot with just 2.1 seconds left in the second for the game winner at home against Martha's Vineyard 4-3. John Hart, Josh Deangelis and Anthony Hardy also scored for the Trojans. Freshman Truman Daniels added two assists and Robby St. Germain made 20 saves. BR next plays Saturday as they get into league play at Dartmouth.
1/2 Varsity vs Archbishop Williams:
The Trojans could not sustain any offensive pressure in their non-league loss to Archbishop Williams getting shut out 4-0. After a scoreless first period the Bishops scored twice in the second and twice in the third.
12/30 Varsity vs Sandwich:
Ryan Donovan scored the first of his two goals just 18 seconds into the game and BR never looked back beating Sandwich 6-1. BR trailed 3-2 heading into the third period before scoring three times in a span of 1:27. Matt Hart tied the game with assists going to Anthony Hardy and freshman Truman Daniels, his first career point. Just 49 seconds later Adam McGrath sent a wrist shot through a screen from just inside the blue line that snuck through the 5 hole. Jimmy Weldon's power play goal 38 seconds after that put the finishing touches on the comeback.
