Game Notes: 2008 Season
MIAA South Sectional Tournament: We lost the next post season game to Taunton (8-0). Kelly Macomber pitched well in relief (allowing 1hit, striking out 4 batters, 0 runs) in 3 1/3 innings.
MIAA South Sectional Tournament: Going into tournament we were seeded 15th (13 wins , 7 losses).
In our first post season game we beat Natick by the score of (8-2). Winning pitcher , Brittany Eldridge,( struck out 7 batters, scattered 5 hits, and allowed 1 earn run) to pick up her 10th win.
The offense was led by Nicolle Brenza ( 3 hits, 2runs, 2 RBIs), Brittany Eldridge (4hits, 1 RBI), Ashley McKinnon ( 2hits, 1 run), Jenna Manning (2hits, 1 run), Kelly Macomber (2hits), and Jessica Berardi ( 2 RBI single) .
Varsity vs Cardinal Spellman (Cardinal Spellman Tournament): In the champiionship game against against Spellman, we lost (8-7). The offense pounded out 17 hits and was led by Ashley McKinnon (3 hits, 2 doubles, 1 run), Nicolle Brenza (3 hits, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Jessica Berardi (3 hits, 1 RBI), Kelly Macomber (2hits, 1 RBI), and Brittany Eldridge (2 hits). Jessica Berardi , Ashley McKinnon, and Kelly Macomber played well on defense.
Varsity vs Milton (Cardinal Spellman Tournament): In the first round of the Cardinal Spellman Tournamnet B-R beat Milton today (3-2) in 11 innings at the Spellman Tournament. We will play in the championship game on Sunday. Brittany Eldridge got the win. She pitched 11 innings, struckout 11 batters, scattered 5 hits, and allowed 0 ER. Eldridge also shined on offense with 3 hits and 1 RBI. She started the bottom of the 11th inning with a long double. Pitch runner, Devinn Doherty, moved to third on an infield grounder by Nicolle Brenza, and came home with the winning run after Sarah Wilbar singled. Ashley McKinnon also chipped in with an RBI single. Defense play of McKinnon, Jessica Berardi, Jenna Manning, and catcher Nicolle Brenza (2 baserunners thrown out) was superb.
Varsity vs Dartmouth: The Lady Trojans beat Dartmouth (3-0). Brittany Eldridge fanned 15 to pick up the win and shutout. The offense was sparked by Brittany Eldridge (3 hits, 1 RBI), Ashley McKinnon (2hits, 1 RBI), Nicolle Brenza (2hits, double), and Amanda Wong (2 hits).
Varsity vs Durfee: The Trojans lost to Durfee , (13-2). Arielle Mallia ( 1 hit, 2 runs) and Emily Ryan (1 hit, 1 RBI) contributed on offense. Kelly Macomber was the losing pitcher.
Varsity vs Taunton: The softball team lost to Taunton 5-0. Pitcher, Brittany Eldridge, scattered 5 hits, struck out 6, and allowed only 1 earned run. Defensive miscues in the 6th and 7th innings allowed 4 unearned runs to score.
Varsity vs Attleboro: The varsity softball team beat Attleboro on 05-19-08 by the score of (4-2). Ashley McKinnon (2hits) drove in the 2 go ahead runs in the top of the seventh with a double. Nicolle Brenza (2hits, 2 runs), Leah Pringle (RBI single), and Brittany Eldridge (triple) were the offense. Brittany Eldridge got the win, striking out 14 batters, scattering 3 hits, allowing 1 earned run, and boosting her record to 8 wins and 2 losses.
Varsity vs New Bedford: The varsity softball team lost to New Bedford on 05-15-08 by the score (2-0). The losing pitcher, Brittany Eldridge, struck out 5 batters, walked 3, and allowed 4 hits. Nicolle Brenza (3hits) and Brittany Eldridge (2hits) contributed on offense. JV: Ashley Deandrade pitched a complete game for the win, scattering just 4 hits. Deandrade also went 3-3 with a double and 2 singles. Sam Guarino was 2-4 with a triple, double, and 2 RBIs. Jess Chute was also 2-4 with 2 singles and 3 RBIs. The girls also played excellent defense and committed no errors. Freshmen: BR lost in extra innings despite a solo home run by Kimberlee Cogan in the top of the 8th inning; She also had a triple and single in the game. Kendra McMasters hit a triple. Singles by Sarah McCluskey, Daryl Medereios, Rachel Bergeron, Rachel Cardaci, and Samantha Spatola. Rachel Cardaci pitched all 8 innings--striking out 6 batters.
Varsity vs Barnstable: The varsity softball team got their 11th win of the season by beating Barnstable (4-2). Pitcher Kelly Macomber picked up her 4th win, striking out 6, walking 4, scattering 6 hits, and giving up 2 earned runs. Amanda Wong (2 hits, 1 Run), and Brittany Eldridge (2hits, 1 Run, 1RBI) contributed on offense. The defense played well, led by Ashley McKinnon at shortstop, who made several fine plays. JV: Stephanie Sylvester pitched a complete game scattering just 4 hits for the win. Jess Chute was 1-3 with a double and 2 RBIs and Meghan Cushing was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
Varsity vs Dartmouth: JV: The girls could manage only three hits throughout the game in the loss to Dartmouth.
Varsity vs Durfee: Freshmen: B-R Lost to Durfee in extra innings (10 innings) Rachel Cardaci had a great defensive game pitching all 10 innings stiking out 9 batters, had 7 put-outs, and offensively got a single. Kendra McMasters, Caitlin Seddon, Anne Cushing, Kimberlee Cogan, Brittany Bergen, Sam Spatola, and Daryl Medereios.
Varsity vs Brockton: The varsity softball team beat Brockton by a score of (11-4. Both Kelly Macomber ( 3 innings, 2 ER, 3 strikeouts, and 3 hits) and Brittany Eldridge ( 4 innings, 1 ER, 8 strikeouts, and 1 hit ) both pitched,with Eldridge getting the win. The offense pounded out 12 hits. Leading the attack was Haley Sarcevicz ( triple, homerun, and 5 RBIs), Ashley McKinnon (triple, homerun, 2 runs, and 1 RBI), Ariel Mallia ( double, single , and 2 RBIs) , Sarah Wilbar ( 2hits , 2 runs), Jessica Berardi (single, 3 runs), and Amanda Wong ( double, 2RBIs).JV: The girls combined for 21 hits in the victory over Brockton. Marianne Mastrolia went 4-5 with 2 triples, a double, and a single. Nichole McNeil went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a single, and Andrea Dollof went 3-4 with 3 singles. Ashley Deandrade pitched the complete game for the win. Freshmen: Single by Ashley Miller; RBI by Rachel Cardaci
Varsity vs Taunton: The varsity softball team lost to Taunton, (6-2). Brittany Eldridge was the losing pitcher allowing only 2 earned runs, 6 base hits, and striking out 6 batters. Defensive miscues allowed 4 unearned runs which stood for the win for THS. Kelly Macomber drove in a run with 1st inning double. The other run was scored by Nicolle Brenza on a stolen base and errant throw. Ashley McKinnon and Sarah Wilbar shined on defense, each made a great catch. JV vs Taunton: The girls lost a tough game to Taunton but played excellent defense. Sam Guarino had the only hit for the Trojans. Freshmen vs Taunton: Rachel Cardaci pitched a complete game with 5 stike- outs; Hit Single and had an RBI. Chelsea Simonzi also had a single.
Varsity vs Attleboro: The varsity softball team beat Attleboro today, (2-0). Kelly Macomber pitched a strong game, scattering 5 hits, walking 1, and striking out 5 batters to pick up her 3rd win of the season and her first shutout. Haley Sarcevicz delivered a big 2 RBI double in the second inning, which held to be the game winning runs. The defense played flawless in the field registering 9 assists, and 16 putouts, with no errors. Ashley McKinnon and Brittany Eldridge also chipped in with 2 hits apiece. JV vs Attleboro: Ashley Deandrade pitched a complete game for the win, giving up just 4 hits. Marianne Mastrolia and Andrea Dollof both had doubles with 2 RBIs. Freshmen vs Attleboro: Won in the 7th Inning with a throw by Daryl Mederios who throw the trying run out at home plate with a throw from left field. Rachel Cardaci was the winning pitcher, pitched a complete game and had 12 Ks. Hits by Daryl Mederios, Anne Cushing, Kimberlee Cogan, Kendra McMasters, Caitlin Seddon and Samantha Spatola.
Varsity vs New Bedford: The Lady Trojans beat New Bedford by a score of 9-6 today. Offensively the trojans pounded out 12 hits. Leading the way was Nicolle Brenza with 3 hits, 2 runs , 1 RBI, with a double. Amanda Wong had 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 RBI. Kelly Macomber had 2 hits , scored 1 run, had 3 RBIs, including a triple.Brittany Eldridge picked up her 5th win of the season. She pitched 7 innings, struck out 8 batters, walked 3, and allowed 4 earned runs. Nicole Fagundes (6 putouts) and Sarah Wilbar ( 3 putouts) played well on defense. JV vs New Bedford: The girls lost a close game to the Whalers. Stephanie Sylvester pitched a solid game and Marianne Mastrolia played a solid defensive game. Freshmen vs New Bedford: BR 9 New Bedford 19. Until the 7th Inning, BR had the lead 9-8.
Varsity vs Stoughton: The Lady Trojans lost to Stoughton, (7-2) . Defensive miscues led to 4 unearned runs. The losing pitcher was Kelly Macomber. She allowed 10 hits, struck out 4, walked 3, and allowed 3 earned runs. Macomber's win/loss is 2-2. Amanda Wong had 2 hits and scored 1 run. Ashley Mckinnon and Brittany Eldridge had RBI singles. Freshmen vs Stoughton: Daryl Medeiros 2 singles; Brittany Bergen 1 Single; Kendra McMasters 1 single; and Amanda Quigley 1 single.
Varsity vs Brockton: The varsity softball team beat Brockton High School on 04-22-08, (2-1) The winning pitcher was Brittany Eldridge. She went 7 innings, had 9 Ks, walked 2, gave up 2 hits , and allowed 1 ER. Her present win/loss is 4-0. Nicolle Brenza had an RBI single and Sarah Wilbar also singled and scored a run. The second run was scored by Emily Ryan. Our overall record is now 6wins with 1 loss. Nicolle Brenza had another assist , throwing out a runner at first base from her catcher's position. JV vs Brockton: The Trojans lost a tough game in 8 innings to Brockton. Jess Chute was 3-5 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Stephanie Sylvester was 3-5 with an RBI. Freshmen vs Brockton: Rachel Bergeron: RBI and 2 singles; Kendra McMasters 1 single; Anne Cushing 1 Single
Varsity vs Marshfield: The Trojans beat Marshfield (21-6). The winning pitcher was Kelly Macomber. She pitched 7 innings, gave up 5 hits, struck out 10, walked 2, and allowed 0 ER. Offensively we had a season best 21 hits. The leading hitters were: Brittany Eldridge who hit for the cycle, single, double, triple, homerun, and 5 RBIs. Ashley McKinnon had 4 hits, scored 4 runs, 2 triples, and 5 RBIs. Jessica Berardi had 4 hits, scored 3 runs, 3 doubles, and 2 RBIs. Nicolle Brenza had 2 hits, 1 triple, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. Amanda Wong had 2 hits, 1 triple, and scored 3 runs. Kelly Macomber had 2 hits and 1 RBI. Devinn Doherty had her first varsity hit, a 2 RBI double. JV vs Marshfield: The Trojans came back from an 11-5 deficet to defeat Marshfield 16-12. Stephanie Sylvester picked up the win and had 5 stikeouts. Marianne Mastrolia was 3-6 with 2 doubles, Sam Guarino was 4-5 with 3 RBIs, and Meghan Cushing was 4-5 with 2 RBIs. Freshmen vs Marshfield: Winning Pitcher Stephanie Sylvester. Rachel Bergeron also pitch 2 quality innings. Singles by Anne Cushing, Daryl Mederios, and Chelsea Simonzi. Double by Brittany Bergen.
Varsity vs Barnstable: The varsity softball team beat Barnstable, (7-1). Brittany Eldridge scattered 4 hits, struck out 12, walked 3, and allowed 0 ER. Offensively we had 11 hits. The top hitters were Amanda Wong, 2 hits, Nicolle Brenza, 2 hits with a double and 1 RBI, Brittany Eldridge, 2 hits with a double , triple, and 3 RBIs., Jessica Berardi, 2 hits with a 2 RBI double. JV vs Barnstable: Andrea Dollof threw a no hitter with 5 strikeouts for the win. Marrianne Mastrolia went 2-2 with a 2 run home run and double with 4 RBIs. Ashley Deandrade was 2-3 with a solo home run and a double. Dollof also went 2-2 with a single and a double with 3 RBIs.
Varsity vs Dartrmouth: Kelly Macomber pitched 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, struck out 6 batters, walked 1 and gave up 2 earned runs. It was her first win as a varsity pitcher. Offensively we had 11 hits. Leading the way was Kelly Macomber, who had 3 hits, 4 RBIs, a double, and a triple. Sarah Wilbar had 2 hits and scored 3 runs. Ashley McKinnon had an RBI single. The defense played solid, committing one error. JV vs Dartmouth: After being down 16-0, the Trojans rallied back to score a total of 7 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to close the gap. Jess Chute went 1-3 with a triple and an RBI. Freshmen: RBI and Single by Daryl Mederios. Single by Brittany Bergen.
Varsity vs Durfee: The varsity softball team beat Durfee (5-1) on 04-10-08. Brittany Eldridge was the winning pitcher, going 7 innings, striking out 6, walking 2, scattering 3 hits and 0 ER.
Offensively we had 8 hits. Nicolle Brenza had 2 hits with a triple and scored 2 runs. Ashley McKinnon had a double and a triple, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. The infield play of Kelly Macomber, Nicole Fagundes, Ashley McKinnon, and Jessica Berardi was flawless turning 3 double plays. Freshmen: Lost in 7th Inning 13-12. Highlights. Single by Brittany Bergen. Triple by Kimberlee Cogan. 3 Run Triple and a single by Kendra McMasters. 2 singles and RBI by Caitlin Seddon.
Freshmen vs Silver Lake: Rachel Cardaci and Kimberlee Cogan picked up the win combining for 14K's
Varsity vs Stoughton: The Lady Trojans lost to Stoughton on 04-03-08 (4-3) in 8 innings. Defensive miscues resulted in 3 unearned runs. Offensively we had 9 hits. Ashley McKinnon had 2 hits, Brittany Eldridge drove in 2 runs with a double. The loss went to Kelly Macomber who pitched 8 innings, allowed 1 ER, had 4 Ks, 1 walk, and scattered 6 hits.
JV vs Stoughton: Kayla Dakin had the game winning single in the bottom of the seventh to score Stephanie Sylvester for the winning run. Sylvester pitched a complete game with 9 strikeouts for her first win of the season. Jess Chute went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Varsity vs Marshfield: The varsity softball team beat Marshfield 6-1 on 04-02-08. Offensively we had 10 hits. Amanda Wong and Jessica Berardi each had two hits, Brittany Eldridge had a home run and three RBIs. The winning pitcher was Brittany Eldridge. She had 13 Ks, 5 BB, 1 ER, and scattered 3 hits in 7 innings of work.
JV vs Marshfield: Andrea Dollof picked up the win with 3 strikeouts in the first game of the season. Ashley Deandrade went 2-4 with a grand slam and 6 RBIs to lead the Trojans at the plate. Marianne Mastrolia went 2-2 with a 3 run homer and Stephanie Sylvester also went 2-2 (2 singles).
