Meet Notes: 2011 Season
5/10 Varsity vs Taunton: The B-R boys track team defeated the Taunton Tigers by a score of 94-42. Nick Schlatz won the 400 hurdles, 110 hurdles and high jump while Zac Lyons won the 100, 200 and long jump to pace the Trojans (4-2, 3-0 OCL) to the OCL crown and back to back titles. Other winners for the boys included Mark Hamalian (triple jump), Zac Poh (discus), Brendan Cavallaro (shot), Brendan Page (javelin), Matt Petty (400) and Mike Norgaard (800). Ed Hall (Mile) and Tom Palmieri (100) had strong second place finishes. The Trojans will compete at the OCL conference Meet next Wed. at Taunton High School. GOOD JOB BOYS
5/3 Varsity vs Barnstable:
The Trojans continued their winning ways defeating Barnstable by a score of 106-30. Captain elect, next year, Nick Schlatz was a triple winner in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and the high jump while the Trojans (3-2, 2-0 OCL) got individual wins from Mark Kamalian (triple jump), Brendan Page (javelin), Zac Poh (discus), Ed Hall (mile), Kaison Ifill (800), James MacAuthur (400), Zac Lyons (100) and Tom Palmieri (200). The Trojans will take on the Taunton Tigers next Tuesday at Taunton high school.
5/1 MSTCA State relays:
The Bridgewater Raynham boys track team had a very successful day at the MSTCA state relays, held at Franklin high school. The Trojans placed 4 teams in the top 8. The Disc team (Poh, Cavallaro, Kelley) placed 3rd overall. The Shot Put team (Cavallaro, Poh, Hebard) placed 5th overall. The Long Jump team (Lyons, Armstead, Murray) placed 7th overall and the 4x400 relay (Petty, Lyons, Schlatz, Norgaard) placed 8th, but qualified for D1 states with a good time of 3:34.
4/26 Varsity vs Dartmouth:
The Bridgewater Raynham boys track and field team defeated the Dartmouth Indians by a score 83-53. Double winners for the Trojans were Nick Schlatz (400 meter Hurdles, and High Jump) and Brett Stewart (110m Hurdles and Triple Jump). Also, coming in first place and getting the Trojans some big points were: Zac Poh (Disc), Tom Palmieri (100m), Mike Norgaard (400m), Rob Nee (2 mile) and the 4x400 team of Russell, Petty, Lyons and Norgaard just missed qualifying for D1 states. The Trojans got some other key performances from Matt Macumber and Brendon Cavallaro and finally, some young pups stepped up yesterday:Brendon Page, Mark Kamalian and Danny Russell. The Trojans next meet will take place next Tuesday vs. the Barnstable Red Raiders at Trojanland.
4/21 Varsity vs Brockton:
The Trojan track and field team lost to the Brockton Boxers by a score of 81-55 over April vacation. Winners for the Trojans were Mike Norgaard (800), Brendan Cavallaro (Shot Put), Zac Poh (Disc), Zac Lyons ( Long Jump), Ed Hall (Mile) The Trojans take on Dartmouth High School at home, Tuesday April 26 at 3:45.
4/14 Varsity vs Durfee:
The B-R boys track team defeated the Durfee Hilltoppers by a score of 69-67. Sr capt Mike Norgaard and a member of the record setting 4x400 team from last year, had to make up 20 yards on the last lap of the 4x400 and did so, helping BR to a very surprising win over Durfee. Also, helping BR pull off the upset were Sr capt Brett Stewart (110m Hurdles), Sr capt Zac Poh (Disc), Jr Zac Lyons (200), Norgaard (400), Jr Rob Nee (2 Mile). Getting the team huge second place points were Sr capt Brendon Cavallaro (Shot Put), Jr Nick Schlatz had 9 key points on the day (400m Hurdles, 110m Hurdles and High Jump), Andrew Kelley (Disc), and Sr Capt Tom Palmieri (100). The Trojans take on Brockton High School Thursday at 10 am and Next Tuesday vs. Dartmouth High School for a key OCL Meet.
4/8 Varsity Track vs New Bedford:
The Trojans started off the season with a loss to the New Bedford Whalers by a score of 81-55. New Bedford finished number 2 at Divison 1 states last year, losing to Andover. Despite the loss, the Trojans got strong performances from Mike Norgaard, Zac Lyons, Zac Poh, Nick Schlatz and Brendan Page. The Trojans got a bunch of second places from Tom Palmieri, Dan Russell, Ed Hall, Rob Nee, Brett Stewart, and Brendon Cavallaro. The Trojans take on the Durfee Hilltoppers Wednesday at 3:30 at Trojanland.
