The Trojans finished the Year at 3-1 in the OCL and are C0-Champions. Meet Notes: 2008 Season Division I State Meet: The Boys Track team Finished the year on a positive note finishing in 7th place with a time of 3:32.13, moving up 10 places from their seeded time of 3:36.8 and just missing out on a medal. Those who competed on the 4x400 team were Justin Beila, Jeong Choe, Brian Gummow, Tommy Mullen. 4x100 team ran their second best time overall (45.9) finishing 15th, Those who competed on the 4x100 team were Pat Omar, Tom Palimeri, Bobby Cabral, Jon Larcom. Also Making it to D1 states were Alex Sharp ( Shot Put), Bob Comier (Disc), Paul Bonitto (High Jump), Tom Mullen (800), Jeong Choe (400), Pat Omar (200m), Bobby Cabral (300m hurdles). Alts were Freshmen Dan Delsignor (4x100 and 4x400) and Jeff Cooney (4x400). Last Year the Trojans only took a 4x100 team to D1 states, this year they doubled their participants. Great Season South Shore Principals Meet: The Bridgewater-Raynham Boys Track Team competed in the South Shore Principals meet in Norwell, Mass. Senior Jeong Choe Won the 400m dash with a time of 51.92. Senior Alex Sharp Came in third in the shot out with a throw of 45-8. The 4x400 team of Justin Beila, Jeong Choe, Dan Delsiggnor, Brian Gummow ran a 3:36 and came in 3rd place. Jake Williams jumped 19-6 and placed 7th in the Long Jump. Brian Gummow Jumped 39-7 in the Triple Jump and came in 7th. Kevin Bumpus placed 9th in the Javelin with a toss of 141-02 and Bob Cormier placed 10th in the Disc with a Toss of 112-11. Dan Delsignor Ran the Freshmen 400m and placed 2nd ran with a personal best 56.1. Freshmen Jeff Cooney (1 mile 5:15) and Freshmen Ryan Hebard (Shot Put 35-8) each had career days in their events. The Trojans will end the season on Friday May 30th at D1 States at Lincoln Sudbury High School. OCL Meet: The BR Boys had a impressive showing at the OCL Meet. The Trojans came in 3rd place but had 114 points overall. Winners for BR were Alex Sharp (shot put 45-7), Jeong Choe (400m 51-9), Jake Williams ( Long Jump 18-9), Paul Bonitto (High Jump 5-9). 2nd Place (Bob Cormier Disc 123-01), Steve Downie ( High Jump 5-7) 3rd Place ( Tom Mullen 800m 2:04), Pat Omar (200m 24.1), Bob Cabral (300m H 43.4), Brian Gummow( Triple Jump 39-0), and 4x100 (Omar, Palimieri, Larcom, Williams). 4th Place ( Tom Palimeri 100m 11.8), 5th place ( Jon Larcom 100m 12.3), Brett Stewart (110 Hurdles 19.2), Luke Ivaldi ( long jump 16-9) Ryan Garcia (Triple Jump), 6th place ( Matt Caliri 400m 56.1), Jesus Galindo ( 200m 25.3), Ken larkin ( Javelin 143-0). Varsity vs Attleboro: Bridgewater-Raynham boys track team lost to Attleboro High School 83-53. Winners for BR were Jeong Choe (400m), Alex Sharp (Shot Put), Justin Beila (Mile), Bob Comier (Disc), Paul Bonitto (High Jump), Jake Williams ( Long Jump) and 4 x 400 (Beila, Mullen, Caliri, Choe) Varsity vs Taunton: The BR Boys knocked off the Taunton Tigers 97-39. Winners for the Trojans were Jeong Choe(400), Bobby Cabral (300m hurdles), Brett Stewart (110m Hurdles), Bobby Cormier (Disc), Alex Sharp (Shot Put), Pat Omar (200), Kenny Larkin (Javelin), Brian Gummow ( Long and Triple Jump). Tom Mullen ran his best time and came in second in the 800m. Bob Cormier qualified for D1 states in the Disc. Luke Ivadi had his personal best in the long jump and Kenny larkin came in third in the 400m. The 4x100 team of Choe, Williams, Omar and Palimieri Qualified for D1 States Their time was the best time in 2 years at BR. The Boys will Travel to Attleboro on Tuesday May 13. Freshman/Sophomore Meet: On Saturday May 3rd, 2008, the BR Boys traveled to New Bedford Voke High School for a Freshmen/Sophomore meet and had a good day overall. The Trojans were lead by Jake Williams, the sophomore won the long jump with a jump of 19'10".75. Williams also made it to the finals in 100m dash and was on the 4x100 team that came in second place overall. Sophomore Kevin Bumpus came in 4th place in the Javelin with a toss of 139-5. Zach Poh finished in 4th place, in the disc, with a toss of 97-7. Tom Mullen finished in 7th place overall in the 400m with a time of 54.3. Matt Wapenyi made it to the finals in javelin and finished in 7th place. 4x400 team( Mullen, Kelley, Bumpus, Cooney) fininshed 8th overall and the 4x100 (Williams, Palmieri, Galindo, Delsignor) Finished in second place. Trojans take on the Taunton Tigers on Tuesday May 6 at BR. Varsity vs New Bedford: Bridgewater-Raynham boys track team lost to New Bedford High school 95-32 on May 1, 2008. Kenny Larkin came in first place in the Javelin. Alex Sharp finished second in the Shot Put. Steve Downie placed 2nd in the High Jump. Jeong Choe was second in the 200m and Justin Beila was 2nd in the 800m. Paul Bottino placed third in the long jump. BR will be home, next Tuesday, against OCL foe the Taunton Tigers. Varsity vs Dartmouth: The Trojans picked up a big win against Dartmouth, who were last years OCL Champs. Setting the tone for the day, were the big men, Alex Sharp and Bob Cormier. Sharp threw 48-1 in the shot put and Cormier toss the disc 114-2. They both finished in first place. Justin Biela (Mile) and Tom Mullen (800) both had exciting races by finishing a step ahead of their opponent at the finish line. Also finishing in first place were: Paul Bottino (high jump), Bobby Cabral (300m hurdles), and Brett Stewart (110 hurdles). Helping the Trojans get some key second place points were Pat Omar(100,200), Kevin Bumpus (Javelin), Jake Williams (Long Jump), Jeong Choe (400m) and Ryan Garcia (Triple Jump). The 4x100 relay team( Tom Palimieri, Williams, O'Connell, Jon Larcom) came in first place and the 4x400 relay team (Bumpus, Kenny Larkin, Evan McCarrick, Mullen) came in first place. The Trojans travel down to New Bedford on April 29. Freshman/Sophomore Meet: The Bridgewater-Raynham Trojans traveled to Notre Dame Academy in Hingham on April 19 for a Freshmen/Sophomore meet. The Trojans finished in second place overall with 53 points. 22 teams competed in the meet on Saturday. Tom Mullen had the an outstanding day by winning the 400m (53.54) and running a leg on the 4x400 team(3rd place). Jake Williams didn't disappoint by coming 2nd place in the Long Jump(19'11') and 2nd place in the 100m dash (11.9). Kevin Bumpus came in 3rd place in the Javelin(136-07) and Tom Palimieri finished in 4th place in 100m dash. Zach Poh toss the disc just over a 100 feet and came in 5th place. Matt Caliri Came in 6th place in the 400m and Brett Stewart made it to the finals in the 110m hurdles. Other Trojans finishing in the top 10 were Marquis Marshall (Long Jump), Andrew Kelly (disc), Ryan Newton (high jump). Finally, Ryan Heburd Toss the shot put 33-6, finishing in 12th place. Both relays were very successful: the 4x100 (Williams, Palimieri, Stewart, Jesus Galindo) came in second place and the 4x400 ( Bumpus, Mullen, Caliri, Jeff Cooney) came in third. The Next Freshmen/Sophomore meet will be May 3rd at New Bedford Voke High School. Varsity vs Barnstable: The BR boys track team picked up its first win of the season, with a 113-23 over Old Colony League foe Barnstable on Tuesday. Double winners for the Trojans(1-2 1-0 OCL) were Paul Bonitto (High Jump and Long Jump), Brian Gummow ( Triple Jump and 800). Alex Sharp took first place in the Shot Put. Kevin Bumpus won the Javelin, Bob Cormier had the best Disc toss, Justin Biela won the mile, Bobby Cabral won the 300m hurdles, Matt Caliri won the 400 and Brett Stewart won the 110 hurdles. BR Travels to Dartmouth on Thursday April 17, 2008. Varsity vs Durfee: The BR boys track team lost another tough non league match up with Durfee High School. The final score of the meet was Durfee 82 BR 54. The follow boys came in first place for the Trojans: Bobby Cabral (300m H), Kevin Bumpus (Javelin), Choe (400), Omar (200). The follow boys came in second place for the Trojans: Alex Sharp (shot put), Pat Omar (Javelin), Ryan Garcia (300m), Bob Cormier (Disc). The Trojans next meet will be Tuesday April 15, against OCL rival, the Red Raiders of Barnstable. Then on Thursday April 17, the Trojans will travel to Dartmouth, were the OCL Title will be on the line. Varsity vs Brockton:The Bridgewater-Raynham boys track team came up just short against the Brockton Boxers. The final score was 78-58. Coming in first for the Trojans were Alex Sharp (shot put 44-11). Mike Mancinelli( Disc 111-5), Kenny Larkin(Javelin 134-2), Bobby Cabral(300m Hurdles 45.2), Brian Gummow(800). Trojans also got strong second place finishes from Jake Williams (long jump 18-5), Pat Omar (Javelin 133-3 and 200m 24.1), Brett Stewart (110 hurdles), Bob Cormier (Shot put 39 and Disc). The boys next meet will be against Durfee High School on Tuesday April 8th. |
