Meet Notes: 2009 Season 6/6 MIAA All-State Championships: The Girls Track and Field Team competed at the MIAA All-State Championships on Saturday June 6th at Fitchburg State College. Melanie Frazier qualified for the New England Championships next Saturday in Burlington, VT in the Long Jump placing 7th with a jump of 17'08.25". Also qualifying for next weeks meet were the members of the 4 x 100 meter relay team. Kim Gabriele, Samantha Bissonnette, Melanie Frazier, and Elisabeth Bodensieck, placed 2nd in the State with a new school record time of 49.04. Kim Gabriele finished in 12th place in the 200 meter run, and Reilly Lindsey placed 17th in the Javelin event. The coaches could not be prouder of the accomplishments of these young ladies. 5/30 MIAA Division 1 State Championships:The B-R Girls Track and Field Team traveled to Andover H.S. on Saturday May 30th to compete in the MIAA Division 1 State Championships. The young ladies continued their impressive season, finishing in 5th place overall as a team. Melanie Frazier continued her fantastic senior season with a 2nd place finish in the Long Jump event. Kim Gabriele had an outstanding performance, with a 3rd place in the 200 meter dash. Reilly Lindsey continued to shine in the Javelin event, finishing in 4th place. Elisabeth Bodensieck sprinted to a 5th place finish in the 100 meter dash. Samantha Bissonnette ran to an impressive 6th place finish in the 400 meter run. Molly Pomroy had a great day in the Discus event, also finishing in 6th place. Finally, the 4 x 100 meter relay team consisting of, Kim Gabriele, Sam Bissonnette, Mel Frazier, and Liz Bodensieck, broke the school record with a scintallating time of 49.24, placing 2nd. Other young ladies qualifying for this prestigious event and paticipating included, Isabella Devincenzo, Melissa Laubi, Jessica Sullivan, Aliya Rosenberg, Katie Ayers, Andrea Murray, Colleen Buckley, Kassandra Aveni, Jacqui Perkins, and Jaimie Correia. Everyone involved with the Track and Field Program are quite proud of the girl's accomplishments. 5/19 OCL Championship Meet: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team continued their exceptional season, as they won OCL Championship Meet on Tuesday at Taunton High School. Melanie Frazier won the Long Jump, and the 100 meter dash. Molly Pomroy won the Discus, and the 400 meter hurdles. Samantha Bissonnette won the 400, and had a 5th place in the Long Jump. While Reilly Lindsey won the Javelin event. 2nd place finishers included, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Kim Gabriele, Isabella DeVincenzo, Jessica Sullivan, Melissa Laubi, Aliya Rosenberg, Katie Ayers, Colleen Buckley, Megan McDonald, Melissa MacDonald, and Jacqui Perkins. Jamie Correia was 3rd in the Discus, while Michelle Young picked up a 3rd in the Javelin. Other young ladies scoring for the Trojans were, Kassandra Aveni, Samantha Torpey, Andrea Murray, Jessica Dion, Joanna Carroll, Maggie Wigley, Danielle Haslam, and Erin Derosier. The girls will now get ready for The Division 1 State Championships at Andover on Saturday May 30th. 5/16 Division 1 State Relay Championships: The girls track and field team traveled to Andover for the Division 1 State Relay Championships On Saturday May 16th. The Trojans continued their successful season placing in 6th place overall, with many outstanding performances. Relays scoring for B-R included, the 4 x 100 meter relay of, Kim Gabriele, Sami Bissonnette, Mel Frazier, and Liz Bodensieck, as they finished 1st overall. The Discus Relay of, Jaimie Correia, Molly Pomroy, and Andrea Murray finished 2nd. The team also had two relays finish 4th, the 4 x 400 meter relay of, Melissa Laubi, Mel Frazier, Molly Pomroy, and Sami Bissonnette, as well as, the Long Jump Relay of, Mel Frazier, Sami Bissonnette, and Isabella DeVincenzo. The girls will next compete in the annual OCL Championship Meet at Taunton H.S. on Tuesday May 19th. 5/12 va Attleboro: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team was crowned Champions of the Old Colony League on Tuesday, defeating an outstanding Attleboro H.S. Team 71 to 65 at Taunton. The meet was an instant classic, as both squads performed at a high level of competition from start to finish. The final outcome was not determined until the last race of the day. B-R held a slim 66 to 65 lead entering the last event, the 4 x 400 meter relay. The winner would receive 5 points to the opponents 0, and the Trojans prevailed in a fantastic race. Melissa Laubi, Jessica Sullivan, Molly Pomroy, and Samantha Bissonnette held the lead from start to finish, and brought home the OCL Title for a 2nd consecutive year. Melanie Frazier continued her fantastic senior season winning the 100 meter dash, and Long Jump, while picking up a 2nd place finish in the 200. Sami Bissonnette placed 1st in the 400, and 2nd in the Long Jump, along with her relay win. Molly Pomroy had a big day, not only running on the winning relay, but winning the Discus, and picking up a 2nd in the 400 hurdles. Jess Sullivan won the 800 in a fabulous finish, as well as the relay. Melissa Laubi not only won with the relay, but had a big 2nd place finish in the 400. Reilly Lindsey, Michelle Young, and Erin Derosier swept the Javelin. Melissa MacDonald had a solid 2nd place in the Shot Put. Jacqui Perkins, and Joanna Carroll placed 2nd and 3rd in the High Jump. Jaimie Correia had an important 3rd in the Discus. Kassandra Aveni had a 2nd in the Mile, and 3rd in the 2 Mile. Aliya Rosenberg was 3rd in the Mile. Elisabeth Bodensieck had a 3rd in the 100, as did Kim Gabriele in the 200, Isabella DeVincenzo in the 400, and Andrea Murray in the 100 hurdles. While Katie Ayers broke the school record in the 2 Mile, running 11:57.8. The entire team was tremendous, and the coaches couldn't be happier or prouder for them. 5/9, 33rd Annual Girls' MSTCA Outdoor Track & Field Invitational: The young ladies of B-R competed in Somerville on Saturday May 9th in the 33rd Annual Girls' MSTCA Outdoor Track & Field Invitational. The meet has a difficult qualifying standard for every event, and many of the finest athletes from the state, make this meet one of the finest meets of the year. Melanie Frazier had an outstanding day, she set a school record in the Long Jump, leaping 18-07, and winning the event. This jump was the 9th best jump in the history of Girls Track & Field in Massachusetts. Mel also finished in 3rd place in the 100 meter dash, and ran on the 4 x 100 meter relay team which placed 5th. Samantha Bissonnette, Kim Gabriele, and Elisabeth Bodensieck were the other members of the relay. Sam finished in 9th place in the 400, Kim was 10th in the 200, and Liz was 18th in the 100. Jessica Sullivan, Aliya Rosenberg, Kassandra Aveni, and Colleen Buckley, placed 7th in the 4 x 800 meter relay. Jacqui Perkins finished 14th in the High Jump. Many other young ladies did very well at this prestigious event, and they are looking forward to running against an outstanding Attleboro H.S. team on Tuesday at Taunton High School, for the OCL Championship. 5/6 vs Taunton: The Girls Track and Field Team defeated Taunton H.S. 105 to 31 on Wednesday, to run their record to 6-0, and 3-0 in the OCL. Winners for the Trojans were, Melanie Frazier, Reilly Lindsey, Melissa MacDonald, Molly Pomroy, Danielle Haslam, Kassandra Aveni, Megan McDonald, Andrea Murray, Samantha Bissonnette, Kim Gabriele, Lauren Koczela, Amanda Young, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Jessica Sullivan, Colleen Buckley, Jessica Dion, and Melissa Laubi. Other scorers for B-R included, Michelle Young, Jacqui Perkins, Kelsey Baumgarten, Aliya Rosenberg, Samantha Torpey, Katie Ayers, Madison Reilly, Sarah Cote, Jen Petty, and Jaimie Correia. 5/2 MSTCA Freshman/Sophomore Meet : The B-R Girls Track and Field Team participated in the annual MSTCA Freshman/Sophomore Meet on Saturday May 2nd, at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. The young ladies continued to shine having an outstanding meet, at this state meet for Freshman and Sophomores. Winners for the Trojans were Kim Gabriele in the 200 meter dash, and Kim Gabriele, Lauren Koczela, Isabella DeVencenzo, Elisabeth Bodensieck in the 4x100 meter relay. 2nd place awards were received by Jacqui Perkins in the High Jump, Elisabeth Bodensieck in the 100 meter dash, and Katie Ayers, Megan McDonald, Aliya Rosenberg, Jessica Sullivan in the 4x800 meter relay. Finishing in 3rd place was Katie Ayers in the 2 mile run. Receiving medals for 4th place finishes were, Jaimie Correia in the Discus, Jessica Dion in the 400 meter hurdles, and Jessica Sullivan in the 800 meter run. Many other girls had outstanding performances for the Trojans, and as usual, all of the girls participating made everybody involved with the Track and Field Program proud. 4/29 vs New Bedford: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team traveled to New Bedford on Wednesday April 29th, to take on a talented Whalers squad. The Trojans had their toughest test of the season thus far, but secured the victory with a great team effort from everybody on the team. The final score was 73 to 63, and everybody involved with program stepped up, bringing the overall record to 5-0. The coaches could not be happier, or prouder, for the entire team, as all of the youngsters grew up as a group today. 4/23 vs Durfee: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team traveled to Durfee H.S., in Fall River, on Wednesday April 22nd. The Trojans ran their season record to 4-0, with a solid 89 to 47 victory, at the Hilltoppers beautiful Track and Field Facility. Winning events for B-R were, Melanie Frazier, Jacqui Perkins, Molly Pomroy, Kelsey Baumgarten, Katie Ayers, Madison Reilly, Jessica Sullivan, Andrea Murray, Christie Kimball, Kim Gabriele, Amanda Colby, and Amanda Young. Also scoring were, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Reilly Lindsey, Michelle Young, Joanna Carroll, Melissa MacDonald, Jaimie Correia, Danielle Haslam, Megan McDonald, Allyson Tabaczynski, Sarah Cote, Jen Petty, Colleen Buckley, Lauren Monahan, and Samantha Torpey. The girls travel to New Bedford H.S. on Wednesday April 29th. 4/18 Notre Dame Acadamy Freshman/Sophomore Meet:The B-R Girls Track and Field Team traveled to Hingham on Saturday April 18th to compete in Notre Dame Acadamy's annual Freshman/Sophomore Meet. The young ladies had an outstanding day, with many girls achieving personal bests. Girls receiving awards for placing in the top six in their events were, Melissa MacDonald, Jacqui Perkins, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Kim Gabriele, Melissa Laubi, Jessica Dion, Reilly Lindsey, Kelsey Baumgarten, Jessica Sullivan, and Alicia Roberts. The Girls will next travel to Fall River, to take on Durfee H.S., on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. 4/15 vs Barnstable: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team ran their season record to 3-0 overall, and 2-0 in the OCL, with an impressive 81 to 55 win at Barnstable H.S., on Wednesday April 15th. Winning events for the Trojans were, Melanie Frazier, Samantha Bissonnette, Colleen Buckley, Jessica Sullivan, Kassandra Aveni, Jessica Dion, Katie Ayers, Maggie Wigley, Jacqui Perkins, Melissa MacDonald, and Melissa Laubi. Other girls scoring for B-R were, Amanda Colby, Michelle Young, Shareese Benbury-Coakley, Andrea Murray, Danielle Haslam, Kelsey Baumgarten, Megan McDonald, and Elisabeth Bodensieck. The girls will next compete at Notre Dame Acadamy in Hingham on Saturday, in their annual Freshman/Sophomore meet. 4/10 vs Brockton: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team finished a strong opening week of meets by defeating a very good Brockton H.S. 94 to 42. The meet was hosted by Taunton H.S., at their beautiful brand new facility. The B-R Track and Field Teams would like to take time to thank Taunton H.S. for being gracious hosts. Winning events for the Trojans were, Colleen Buckley, Samantha Bissonnette, Katie Laubi, Molly Pomroy, Melissa MacDonald, Jacqui Perkins, Kelsey Baumgarten, Isabella Devincenzo, Jessica Sullivan, and Megan McDonald. Other girls scoring for B-R were, Erin Desrosier, Michelle Young, Reilly Lindsey, Jamie Correia, Maggie Wigley, Jessica Dion, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Aliya Rosenberg, Melissa Laubi, Andrea Murray, and Sarah Cote. The Road Warriors travel to Barnstable H.S. Wednesday April 15th. 4/8 vs Dartmouth: The B-R Girls Track and Field Team opened their 2009 season with an impressive win at Dartmouth 91 to 45, on Wednesday April 8th. Winning events for the Trojans were, Melanie Frazier, Samantha Bissonnette, Colleen Buckley, Molly Pomroy, Andrea Murray, Kassandra Aveni, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Kim Gabriele, Kelsey Baumgarten, Isabella DeVincenzo, Shannon Burke, Melissa MacDonald, and Jessica Sullivan. Other scorers for B-R included, Michelle Young, Erin Desrosier, Reilly Lindsey, Jacqui Perkins, Amanda Young, Maggie Wigley, Katie Ayers, Jessica Dion, Aliya Rosenberg, and Melissa Laubi. The next meet for the young ladies is Friday April 10th at Taunton vs. Brockton H.S. at 9 AM. |
