Swim Meet Notes 2009 - 2010 Season
2/13-14 Central/South Swiming Championships:This weekend a group of Bridgewater Raynham boys and girls swimmers participated in the Central/South Swimming Championships held at M.I.T. The boys qualified in two seperate relays and Kyle Couture in one individual event. The boys 200 freestyle relay consisting of John Shea, Tyler Oslund, Sean O'Donnel, and Kyle Couture cut 2 seconds off of their best time and qualified for the State Championships next Friday night at Harvard University. Kyle Couture swam a personal best in the 50 yard freestyle and the same four boys set a Bridgewater-Raynham high school swimming record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.56. The girls were led by Kelsie Clark who
took fourth place in both of her individual events (50 freestyle and 100 butterfly) and also qualified for States next weekend. The girls competed in three seperate relays during the meet. The 200 Medley
Relay consisting of Caissie Niles, Kim Wolohojian, Kelsie Clark, and Michelle Young swam their best time all season. The 200 Freestyle relay consisting of Kelsie Clark, Cori Spagna, Michelle Young, and Erin Desrosier took 12th place and qualified for the State Championships next Sunday at Harvard Univeristy.

1/28 vs Nauset
Boys:
lost to Nausett 97-68. First place finishers were achieved by Mike Moreshead (500 free) and Kyle Couture (50 free & 100 fly). Tyler Oslund achieved a personal best in the 100 breast stroke. The boys
finished off a successful season with a winning record of 5-3-1.

Girls: lost to Nausett 90-78. First place finishers were achieved by Kelsie Clark (50 free & 100 fly) and Cori Spagna in the 500 freestyle. Personal best times were done by Chelsey Pringle (500 fee), Lauren Fox
(200 free), and Amanda Bell (100 fly). The girls ended their winning season with a record of 6-3.

1/27 vs Coyle Cassidy
Boys:
tied Coyle 79-79. Kyle Couture had two first place finishes in the 50 free and the 100 free. The 400 free relay consisting of Ian Bell, Kevin Hexamer, Doug Hall, and Mike Moreshead all swam personal
bests and allowed for the team to come from behind and tie the meet in the final event.
Girls: defeated Coyle 99-69. Kelsie Clark had two first place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Other first place finishers included Michelle Young (50 free), Caissie Niles (100 back), and Kim
Wolohojian (100 breast stroke). Personal bests were achieved by Jenna Beneski (500 free), Cori Spagna (100 free), Amanda Bell (200 free & 100 free), Kristine Dunham (100 breast), Megan Wood (100 breast)
1/22 vs Barnstable

Boys:
1st place: John Shea: 200 free, Mike Moreshead 500 free & 100 back, Kyle Couture 50 & 100 free, Sean O'Donnell 200 IM. Best times: Sean in the IM, Kyle in both events, Mike in both events, Ian in 500 free, and John in 200 free.
Girls: 1st place: Kelsie Clark in 100 fly and 50 free. Personal bests by: Kristine Dunham 200 free, Erin Desroiser 50 free, Abbie Rosen 100 free, Cori Spagna 100 free, Jenna Beneski 100 free, Julia Coakley and
Katelyn Travers 500 free.

1/19 vs Silver Lake
Boys:
The BR boys swim team won with a score of 70-64. John Shea came in frist in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Mike Moreshead won the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Sean O'Donnell had a frist place ininsh in the 100 butterfly. Doug Hall won the 500 freestyle with great finish.
Girls:
The girls won this meet 92 to 55 and had several outstanding performances. Chesey Tate won the 200 free and the 100 butterfly. Kelsie Clark won the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle. Cori Spagna won the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Caissie Niles won the 100 back, posting her best time. Kim Wolohojian won the 100 breaststroke. Several other girls swam their best times.
1/15 vs Taunton

Boys:
This was a huge win for the BR boys. Sean O'Donnel led BR with wins in the 200 IM and the 100-yard freestyle while Kyle Couture won the 50-yard freestlye. The entire boys team posted personal best times.
Girls: Another big win for the girls swim team. Winners in their events were Kelsie Clark for the 50-yard freestyle, Caissie Niles in the 100-yard freestyle, Chelsey Tate in the 100-yard backstroke and Michelle Young in the 100 yard breaststroke. The entire team swam well and the girls really came together as a team.

1/12 vs Sandwich
Boys:
The boys lsot to Sandwich. Mike Moreshead placed first in the 100 yard backstroke and Sean O'Donnel finished first in the 100 yard breast stroke. Personal best times were achieved by Ian Bell, 100 yard freestyle, Kevin Hexamer, 500 freestyle, Sean O'Donnel, 100 butterfly and Tyler Oslund, 100 backstroke.
Girls:
The girls swam against themselves as Snadwich didn't have a girls team. ERecording personal best times were: Chelsey Tate had two pesonal best imes in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke. Erin Desrosier had two personal best times in the 500 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Kim Woholojian had a personal best in the 100 breast stroke. Katelyn Travers had a personal best in the 100 freestyle.
1/7 vs Sacred Heart
Boys:
1st place finishes:, Sean O'Donnell 50 free & 100 butterfly, Kyle Couture 200 IM & 100 free, Mike Moreshead 500 free and 100 back.
Girls: 1st place finishes: Cori Spagna- 200 free & 500, Caissie Niles- 200 IM & 100 back, Kelsie Clark- 50 free & 100 free, Kim Wolohojian 100 breast
Both boys and Girls relays did very well, the Girls Medley Relay finished first with their best time.

1/5 vs Norton
Boys:
The boys swim team beat Norton 83-63 improving their record to 1-1. First place finishes were achieved by Michael Moreshead, Sean O'Donnel, Kyle Couture, Tyler Oslund, and John Shea. Ian Bell, Doug Hall and Kevin Hexamer each recorded a personal best time. The boys will face Sacred Heart on Thursday.
Girls: The girls swim team beat Norton 91-70 imporving their record to 1-1. The 200 yard medley relay qualified for sections with a time of 2:11.37. The relay consisted of Chelsey Tate, Kim Wolohogian, Kelsey Clark, and Cori Spagna. Kelsie Clark got two first place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Michelle Young got two personal best times, one in the 50 yard freestyle and one in the 100 yard freestyle. Other 1st place finishes were Kim W, Cori S, and Chelsey Tate. The girls will face Sacred Heart on Thursday.

12/18 vs Nantucket:
Boys:
Kyle Couture had two first place finishes. Kyle finished first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.10 and first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.13. The boys 200 yard freestyle relay finished first and qualified for South Sectionals with a time of 1:40.87. The relay consisted of John Shea, Tyler Oslund, Sean O'Donnel, and Kyle Couture. John Shea had two personal best times; one in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.47 and one in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:16.16.
Girls:
Kelsie Clark took a 1st and 2nd place. She placed second in the 200 IM and qualified for South Sectionals with a time of 2:27.68 and took 1st place in the 100 butterfly and qualified for States with a time of 1:04.95. Chelsey Tate also finished 1st in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:17.03. The girls 200 yard freestyle consisting of Caissie Niles, Cori Spagna, Michelle Young, and Kelsie Clark qualified for Sectionals with a time of 1:56.25
For many new swimmers this was their first meet and everyone swam very well and many best times were achieved.
12/12 Highlights from the Sandwich Relay Carnival:
Boys:
Boys 200 Free Relay- Tyler Oslund, John Shea, Sean O'Donnel, and Kyle Couture set a new B/R swimming record with a time of 1:41.60
Boys 200 Medley Relay- Mike Moreshead, Sean O'Donnel, Kyle Couture, and John Shea set a new B/R swimming record with a time of 2:00.50
. Boys 50 Free- Sean O'Donnel got a personal best time of 24.96
Girls: Girls 200 Free Relay- Lauren Fox, Erin Desrosier, Chelsey Tate, Kelsie Clark came in third place.
Many new swimmers participated in events for the first time and placed well.
These are some very promising times for the first meet. We are looking forward to a successful season for this young team.
