Game Notes: 2009 Season 5/30 MIAA South Sectional vs Newton North: The girl's seson ended with a first round lose in the south sectional to Newton North 5 - 0. 5/21 vs West Bridgewater: The Girls Tennis Team finished the regular season at West Bridgewater with a 5-0 win, all matches were played as pro sets. Freshman Sarah Almeida and Emily Thomas won their first varsity match 9-5. Senior co-captains Jackie McGuirk 9-0 and Kelly Meagher 9-1 finished undefeated regular seasons. Allie Chabot finished at 12-3. 5/19 vs Attleboro: Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0, Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-3 and Allie Chabot 6-1, 6-0 swept the singles, clinched the match 3-2 and led BR to an undefeated OCL season at Attleboro Tuesday afternoon. The girls will wrap up the regular season Thursday at West Bridgewater. Their overall record is 12-2, 8-0 OCL. 5/18 vs Taunton: The Lady Trojans clinched the Old Colony League championship Monday with a 4-1 win over the Lady Tigers of Taunton at the Bridgewater Middle School courts. BR swept the singles matches with Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-1, Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-0 still undefeated. Allie Chabot 6-3, 6-2 and the first doubles team of Liz Baird and Jillian Kitterick 6-3, 6-2 added 2 more points for the 4-1 margin. BR is now 11-2 overall and clinched their first title since 2000. 5/14 vs Barnstable: The Girls Varsity Tennis team took a giant step toward the Old Colony League title on Thursday at Barnstable. Barnstable took an early lead in the match on a cold, blustery rain threatening day as Jackie McGuirk 0-6 and Kelly Meagher both dropped their first sets of the season in the difficult conditions. With the challenge of dropping their first matches this year, both co-captains came back to win. Jackie finished 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 and Kelly won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.Freshman Allie Chabot again the key third point with a 6-4, 6-1 win, giving the team a 3-2 victory. At 10-2 overall and 6-0 OCL the girls are assured of at least a tie for the title. 5/12 vs Brockton: Brockton was the visitor as the Girls tennis Team won its ninth match of the season with a 5-0 sweep of the Boxers. Co Captains Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-0 remain undefeated. Allie Chabot 6-3, 6-0 and the doubles tandems of Liz Baird and Jillian Kitterick 6-1, 6-1 and Samantha Counts with Julianne Roth 6-0, 6-3 also won. 5/8 vs Dartmouth: The Lady Trojans played host to the Dartmouth Indians in an OCL match in Bridgewater on Friday afternoon. Jackie McGuirk 6-1, 6-0, Kelly Meagher 6-4, 6-3 and Liz Baird with Jillian Kitterick at first doubles passed the home team win in a close OCL show down. The girls are now 8-2 on the season and remain undefeated in the OCL. 4/30 vs Durfee: Seniors Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-1 and Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-0 led the way as the Lady Trojans notched their 7th win of the season Thursday afternoon against Durfee. Freshman Allie Chabot continued fine play winning 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Liz Baird and Jillian Kitterick rallied again to win their match 6-6 (5-7), 6-2. 8-6 at first doubles. The girls are now 7-2 on the season, 4-0 in the OCL and return to play Dartmouth at home on Tuesday. 4/28 vs Taunton: The Lady Trojans defeated the Taunton Tigers 4-1 in a contested match at Taunton. Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0 an Kelly Meagher 6-1, 6-1 both won handily. But the other matches were challenging. Liz Baird and Jillian Kitterick continued their comeback ways, winning the second and third sets 6-3, 6-2 after dropping the opener 6-3. Allie Chabot lost the first set 4-6, won the second set 6-6 (7-2) in a tie breaker and then won the match with another tiebreaker 6-6 (7-2). The win moves the team to 4-0 in the OCL, 6-2 overall. 4/24 vs Attleboro: The Girls Tennis Team was outstanding in a 5-0 sweep of Attleboro on Friday. Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0, Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-0 and Allie Chabot 6-2, 6-0 all won their singles matches. Jillian Kitterick and Liz Baird 6-2, 6-0 and Randi Hatch with Samantha Counts 6-3, 6-0 swept the doubles matches. The team record is now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the OCL. 4/22 vs Durfee: Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0 First Singles and Allie Chabot 4-6, 6-3, 7-4 at second singles were the winner for B-R as they wre edged 3-2 by Durfee on the road during school vacation. The non-league loss was the second of the season moving the team record to 4-2. Jackie McGuirk remains undefeated at First singles. The girls will face Attleboro on Friday as they return to OCL play. 4/16 vs Barnstable: The BR Girls Tennis team won a huge match on Thursday afternoon as they swept the singles matches against the Barnstable Red Raiders. Barnstable is a perennial power in Massachusetts Girls Tennis and the B-R Girls have been their biggest challenge in the OCL losing several close matches in recent years. Jackie McGuirk 6-4, 6-4, Kelly Meagher 6-1, 6-2 and Allie Chabot 6-0, 6-1 led the way for BR as they established themselves as the team to beat in the OCL. The win improve the team record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Old Colony League. 4/14 vs Dartmouth: The Senior tandem of Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-1, 6-0 set the pace for the Girls Tennis Team as they topped Dartmouth 4-1 in a good match at Dartmouth. Liz Baird and Jillian Kitterick won in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at first doubles. Randi Hatch and Julianne Roth won 6-1, 3-6, 8-6 for the final 4-1 margin the their OCL opener. 4/9 vs Brockton: The B-R Girls Tennis team returned to their winning ways with a 5-0 sweep at Brockton on Thursday afternoon. Jackie McGuirk, Kelly Meagher and Allie Chabot all won their singles matches. Liz Baird teamed with Jillian Kitterick for a come from behind win at first doubles and Freshman Randi Hatch with Junior Julianne Roth won second doubles also in a tiebreaker. 4/7 vs Falmouth: The Lady Trojans lost a close match at Falmouth despite winning firt and second singles. Co - Captains Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-2, 6-4 were winners for B-R. 3/27 vs West Bridgewater: Bridgewater Raynham opened the season with a 4-1 win over West Bridgewater at the Middle School courts. Captains Jackie McGuirk and Kelly Meagher along with Freshman Allie Chabot won in straight sets. Liz Baird and Randi Hatch were winners at second doubles.
