Game Notes: 2008 Season
MIAA South Sectional Tournament vs
King Philip: Undefeated King Philip was the opponent and the Lady Trojans gave them all they could handle. Once again the strong 1 – 2 punch of Jackie McGuirk 6-3, 7-5 and Kelly Meagher 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 secured two points. The match came down to a third set at second doubles. Susan Yelle and Haley Hatch won the first set 6-2, King Philip rallied for a 6-3 win in the second set and finally clinched the math with a 6-4 win in the third. The girls ended another good season at 12-5, 6-2 OCL and qualified for the State Tournament for the 5th year in a row.
MIAA South Sectional Tournament vs Natick:
The Girls Tennis Team opened the MIAA State Tournament with a 3-2 win over Natick. In a repeat of the last match scenario, Jackie McGuirk 6-2, 6-0 and Kelly Meaagher 6-3, 6-3 won again at singles. Both doubles teams lost and Jenna Nowlin again came from behind 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to win at 3rd singles. The record now stands at 12-4 and the girls travel to 20-0 King Philip on Saturday 6/1/08.
vs Hingham: The final match of the season was one of the best as the Lady Trojans topped a good Hingham Girls Varsity  by a 3-2 score. Jackie McGuirk 6-3, 6-3 and Kelly meagher 6-3, 6-3 won their singles matches. Both B-R doubles teams were defeated with haley Hatch and Susan Yelle edged out 6-4, 4-6, 5-7 in a hard fought match. Jenna Nowlin had to come fro behind to win the deciding point 7-5, 7-5 as an enthusiastic crowd of Hingham tennis fans looked on. The win was the 11th against 4 losses and the team finished 6-2 in the OCL.
vs Taunton: The B-R girls traveled to Taunton and clinched second place in the OCL with a 4-1 win. Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-0; Kelly Meagher 6-1, 6-1; and Jenna Nowlin 6-4, 6-1 swept singles again. Haley Hatch and Susan Yelle 6-2, 6-2 won again at second doubles. The win boosts the overall record to 10-4 for the season and 6-2 in the OCL.
vs Attleboro: The B-R Girls Tennis team returned to their winning ways with a 5 – 0 sweep of Attleboro at home. Jackie McGuirk 6-0, 6-1, Kelly Meagher 6-0, 6-3 and Jenna Nowlin 6-1, 6-2 were all winners at singles. The doubles team of Ellen Reid and Katie Williams 6-4, 6-1 and Haley Hatch and Susan Yelle 6-1, 6-1 completed the sweep. The team now stands ar 9-4 for the season and 5-2 in the OCL.
vs Falmouth: The Girls tennis team lost their second match this week. The Falmouth Clippers took full advantage of their homecourt edge handing the lady Trojans a 5 -0 defeat. B-Rs record now stands at 8 – 4 on the season and 4 – 2 in the OCL

Barnstable: The Barnstable Girls Tennis team defeated B-R 5 – 0 Tuesday afternoon in Barnstable. The win cinched the title for Barnstable as they remain undefeated at 14 – 0.

Durfee: Jackie McGuirk (6-0, 6-0) and Kelly Meagher (6-1, 6-0) both ran their season records to 9-1 as the Lady Trojans topped the Durfee Hilltoppers 5-0 in a home match. Jenna Nowlin (6-3, 6-0) and the first doubles tandem of Haley Hatch and Susan Yelle (6-3, 6-2) also won. A little glimpse of the future may have been had in the second doubles match where Freshman Elizabeth Baird and Sophomore Jillian Kitterick won their first varsity start 6-3, 6-4.

Dartmouth: The Varsity Girls Tennis Team won a key OCL match with a 3-2 win over Dartmouth at home on Wednesday. Jackie McGuirk (6-1, 6-1) and Kelly Meagher (6-3, 6-4) were both winners at singles with Meagher coming from behind 1-4 to win the second set and secure the win for B-R. Haley Hatch and Susan Yelle also won a critical point for B-R at second doubles. The victory keeps the team in position for a tie for the league chanpinship and  moves the team to 7-2 on the season, 4-1 in the OCL

Taunton: Another sweep for the Girls Tennis team as they topped the Taunton Tigers at the BRRHS courts. Jackie McGuirk (6-0, 6-0); Kelly Meagher 6-2, 6-1) and Jenna Nowlin
(6-1, 6-4) continued to roll at singles. The doubles teams of Katie Williams with Ellen Reid (6-2, 6-3) and Haley Hatch with Susan Yelle (6-0, 6-3) also continued their winning ways. The team now stands at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the OCL.

Attleboro: The Lady Trojans traveled to Attleboro for their third Old Colony Leagur match of the season. The match was a sweep for B-R with Jackie McGuirk, 6-0; Kelly Meagher 6-0,
6-1; Jenna Nowlin 6-0, 6-1; at doubles Ellen Reid and Katie Williams 6-1, 6-0 and Haley Hatch with Susan Yelle 6-0, 6-1 all winners for the day. The win moves the team to 2-1 in the OCL and 5-2 overall.

Barnstable: The undefeated Barnstable Girls Tennis team played flawlessly as they swept B-R at the courts on Mt. Prospect Street 5-0.  The loss was the second of the season for the Lady Trojans who are now 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Old Colony League.
vs Dartmouth: The Girls Tennis team traveled to Dartmouth for their Old Colony League opener on Monday.  Jackie McGuirk 6-1,6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-0,6-3 set the pace again at 1st and 2nd singles.  Haley Hatch and Susan Yelle were 6-3,7-5 winners at second doubles and Jenna Nowlin prevailed in the best match of the day, winning 4-6,7-5,7-2 in a tie breaker at third singles for the 4-1 win.
vs Brockton:
An early rematch over the Brockton Girls Tennis team at Brockton gave B-R it’s 3rd win of the season.  Jackie McGuirk 6-0,6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-2,6-1 won at singles.  The doubles tandems of Ellen Reid with Katie Williams 6-3,6-4  and Haley Hatch with Susan Yelle 6-3,6-0 led the 4-1 win over the Boxers.
vs Durfee:
Jackie McGuirk 6-0,6-0 , Kelly Meagher 6-0,6-0 and Jenna Nowlin 6-2,6-4 were all winners at singles.  Ellen Reid combined with Katie Williams 6-3,6-0 and Haley Hatch with Susan Yelle 6-1,6-2 helped the Lady Trojans complete a 5-0 sweep over the Durfee Hilltoppers for their 2nd win of the season.
vs Falmouth:
 Falmouth came from behind to pull out a 3-2 win over the girls in a home match on Monday.  Jackie McGuirk 6-0,5-7,6-0 and Kelly Meagher 6-1,6-0 were the winners for B-R.
vs Brockton:
 The B-R girls opened the season with a 5-0 sweep over Brockton at home behind the old high school.  Jackie McGuirk at first singles, 6-0,6-0 and Kelly Meagher at second singles, 6-1,6-3 led the way for the Lady Trojans.  Ellen Reid  was a 6-2,6-2 winner and the doubles teams of Jenna Nowlin with Katie Williams 6-2,6-0 as well as Emma Guardia with Susan Yelle 6-3,6-0 were also winners.
