Match Notes 2008 Season
Varsity vs Hanover 9/30: The Lady Trojans suffered another tough loss to Hanover. The scores were 10-25, 16-25, 17-25. The girls came out flat and missed several serves but played thier best match in the 3rd set. Theresa Burgess led all servers keeping all of her 8 serves in. Nicole and Sam Marotta led the offense combining for 8 kills. Jackie McCarrick made her season debut after returning from injury and passed well from the back row. JV:
Varsity vs Plymouth S. B-R dropped 3 straight sets to Plymouth South with the scores of 10-25, 12-25, 23-25. The Trojans were led defensively by Alyssa Baumgarten (7 digs) , Jess Berardi (10 digs) and Amy Gordon with 5 digs. JV: The JV lost the first match 14 - 25 but came back to take the next two with scores of 25 - 19 and 25 - 21. Rachel Cardaci: 4 serves & 1 dig. Daryl Medieros: 2 kills, an ace & 1 dig. Kendra McMasters: 2 aces.
Varsity vs Taunton 9/24: Jess Chute led the Trojans offensively getting 7 kills in three sets. Nicole Marotta had 4 kills in two sets. Kate Bumpus ran the offense getting 11 assists in three sets. She also had an excellent block and 3 kills in the front row Theresa Burgess played all around for the first time this season and did excellent. She had 7 digs and 3 serving aces and 4 kills. Jess Berardi played well around and served 6 straight points to almost pull of a first set come from behind victory. Match scores were: B-R 25 - Taunton 27, 18 - 25, 25 - 12, 23 - 25. JV:the JV team defeated Taunton 2 - 0 at a match played at Taunton. Molly Buckley with 2 kills, Morgan Fries with 2 kills and Elissa Turpin with 1 ace & no missed serves. Freshmen volleyball team defeated Taunton H.S. 2 games to 1 at Taunton High on Wednesday. Currently the freshman are 5-1 and it was the first victory over Taunton frosh since the freshman program began five years ago. The freshman play Plymouth South at Bridgewater-Raynham on Monday and Coyle Cassidy at BR on Tuesday.
Varsity vs Attleboro 9/22: The BR volleyball team dropped a tough loss to Attleboro in 3 sets. The girls gave up a good defensive effort but could not produce enough offense to overtake Attleboro. The defensive efforts were led by Tara Conti (9 digs) Alyssa Baumgarten ( 6 digs) Amy Gordon (5 digs) and Rachel Chuckran (3 blocks). Kate Bumpus and Jess Berardi served well for the Trojans. The girls are looking for a big win in Taunton on Wednesday. Game scores were: B-R 7-25, 24-26, 7-25. JV: The scores were: 22-25, 26-24, 20-25. Elissa Turpin had 3 kills & 5 digs. Kayla Sullivan had 7 digs & 7 serves. Freshmen defeated visiting Attleboro frosh by scores of 21-12 and 21-11. Presently the freshman are enjoying a good year and stand at 4-1 after the first five contests. The next match is the 24th at Taunton.
Varsity vs Plymouth North 9/20: The BR Varsity team got their first victory in 2 years on Saturday. It was a total team effort. Jess Berardi led all servers with 8 aces. The Trojans were led offensively by Theresa Burgess (5 kills) and Nicole Maratto (5 kills). Haley Sarcevizc and Amy Gordon also played strong up at the net. Alyssa Baumgarten set well in all 5 sets of teh match. Jess Berardi (10 digs) and Amy Gordon (7 digs) were all over the court defensively. Emily Ryan and Tara Conti also played well in the back court. Game scores were: B-R 15-25, 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, 15-8. JV vs Plymouth North 9/20: The scores were: 25-11, 25-20. Joanna Carroll had a kill, served for the first time in a game & got 3 out of her 4 serves over. Allison Hausen had 2 aces & a dig.
Varsity vs Dighton-Rehoboth 9/18: JV: The scores were: 17-25, 25-22, 25-22. Kelsey Baumgarten & Molly Buckley each had one kill. Steph Sylvester had a kill, 2 aces & 3 digs. Daryl Medieros had 3 aces. Freshmen defeated dighton-rehoboth by scores or 21-14 and 21 - 13.
Varsity vs Barnstable 9/15: JV: Freshman were defeated in a hard fought match with Barnstable freshman Scores of the match were barnstable 25-23, BR 25-15 and Barnstable won last set 15-11
Varsity vs Dighton-Rehoboth 9/18: B-R started off the match with a opening set win 25 - 21 but could not sustain the momentum and dropped three straight sets 25 -14, 25 - 21, and 25 - 13. Rachel Chuckran played strong in the middle with 5 kills.Theresa Burgess was agressive offensively and had 3 kills. Emily Ryan played outstanding in the back row digging up 10 D-R hits. Amy Gordon (7 digs) and Jess Berardi (5 digs) were excellent playing all-around. Kate Bumpus and Alyssa Baumgarten shared the setting duties combining for 9 assists. Andrea Riley tallied 3 aces in the opening set win.
Varsity vs Plymouth S. 9/8: JV: Freshmen: the freshman volley ball team defeated Plymouth South 2-0 by scores of 25-14, 25- 10. The next game will be Tthursday against Falmouth High School at Bridgewater-Raynham at 3:30.
