Meet Notes 2009 - 2010 Season - 2010 Old Colony League Champions
2/28 MIAA State Championship Meet: The Girls Winter Track Team concluded a fantastic season on Friday at The Reggie Lewis Center, Competing in the MIAA State Championship Meet. B-R was represented by two fabulous relay teams at the meet, and the young ladies of B-R once again had a fantastic showing at the meet. The 4-200 meter Relay Team ran a season's best time of 1:48.07, and finished in 8th place. Kim Gabriele, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Molly Pomroy, and Melissa Laubi, passed the baton along for the outstanding performance. Also, Jessica Sullivan, Erin Desrochers, Kassandra Aveni, and Jill Wyman, ran to the second fastest time in school history in the 4-800 meter Relay, running 9:58.06 to finish in 11th place overall. Considering there are over 300 high schools in Massachusetts, to finish 8th and 11th in the state is a fantastic accomplishment, and a great way to end one of the best season's in school history for the Winter Track Program. The coaches would like to thank everybody involved with the program for a great year and their continued support.
2/21 MIAA Division 1 State Championship Meet: The team continued their outstanding season with numerous superb performances. The 4-200 meter Relay Team of Kim Gabriele, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Molly Pomroy, and Melissa Laubi qualified for the All-State Championship Meet with a tremendous 4th place finish. Also qualifying for the All-State meet was the 4-800 meter Relay Team, which consisted of Jessica Sullivan, Erin Desrochers, Kassandra Aveni, and Jill Wyman. Jessica Sullivan also ran a tremendous 3:08.67, in the 1000 meter Run. While Katie Ayers broke the school record in the 2 Mile Run, with a time of 11:45.60. Other young ladies to qualify and participate in the prestigous meet were, Samantha MacMillan, Megan McDonald, Reilly Lindsey, Melissa MacDonald, Olivia Coakley, Alicia Roberts, and Krissy Cicalis. Overall, 16 competitors represented B-R at the Meet, this is the most we have ever had qualify for the State Meet in one season. The coaches would like to thank the young ladies for the wonderful season, and look forward to many more in the future.
2/7 Bob McIntyre Elite Relay Meet: The B-R Girls Winter Track Team ran in the Bob McIntyre Elite Relay Meet on Super Sunday, at the Reggie Lewis Center. The meet is strictly relays, and is comprised of the best relay teams in all of New England. As usual, the girl's from B-R had a strong showing, and are poised to have some solid performances at the Division 1 State Championships on February 20th. The 4x800 meter relay team ran to a 6th place finish in a very deep field of teams. Jessica Sullivan, Erin Desrochers, Kassandra Aveni, and Katie Ayers established a new school record of 9:53.78, in the event. The 4x200 meter relay team of Kim Gabriele, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Molly Pomroy, and Melissa Laubi ran a season best time of 1:48.29, while finishing in 7th place. Finally, the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Jessica Sullivan, Molly Pomroy, Krissy Cicalis, and Melissa Laubi had a 12th place finish, running a solid 4:14.26. Congratulations are in order for all of the young ladies, as they not only ran and competed hard, but conducted themselves in a first class manner.
2/1 Old Colony League Championship Meet: The Girls Winter Track Team continued their super season on Monday February 1st, at The Reggie Lewis Center. They won The Old Colony League Championship Meet, holding off a strong Attleboro H.S. team, as well as, the rest of the teams from the OCL. The team scores were, B-R 142.50, Attleboro 132.50, Dartmouth 56, Barnstable 51, and Taunton 16. Molly Pomroy won the 55 meter Hurdles, Liz Bodensieck won the 55 meter Dash, Jess Sullivan won the 1000 meter Run, Katie Ayers won the 2 Mile Run, and Melissa MacDonald won the Shot Put. Also, the 4x800 meter Relay Team of Erin Desrochers, Kassandra Aveni, Jill Wyman, and Katie Ayers finished 1st, and the 4x400 meter Relay Team of Jess Sullivan, Krissy Cicalis, Alicia Roberts, and Melissa Laubi also ran to a 1st place finish. Kim Gabriele was 2nd in the 300 meter Dash, Erin Desrochers finished 2nd in the 600 meter Run, Jill Wyman ran to a 2nd place finish in the 1000 meter Run, and Kassandra Aveni was 2nd in the 1 Mile Run. While the 4x200 meter Relay Team of Kim Gabriele, Liz Bodensieck, Molly Pomroy, and Sarah Barnett was also 2nd. Finishing in 3rd place for the Lady Trojans were, Megan McDonald in the 1 Mile Run, Joanna Carroll in the High Jump, and Reilly Lindsey in the Shot Put. Melissa Laubi ran to a 4th place finish in the 300 meter Dash. While, Sarah Barnett was 5th in the 55 meter Dash, and the Long Jump, Andrea Murray finished 5th in the 55 meter Hurdles, and Sam MacMillan was 5th in the 600 meter Run. Finishing 6th for B-R included, Lauren Monahan in the 2 Mile Run, Jacqui Perkins in the High Jump, Molly Pomroy in the Long Jump, and Olivia Coakley in the Shot Put. Although only the top 6 in each event score team points, everybody else who competed for the team had very impressive performances. The coaches could not be happier with the whole team, as it has been a fantastic season, and all of them are outstanding young ladies.
1/24 Division 1 State Relays: Although only two of the relays brought home medals, they had many fabulous performances. The 4-50 shuttle dash team of, Kim Gabriele, Liz Bodensieck, Sarah Barnett, and Reilly Lindsey placed, as well as, the 4-200 relay team of, Kim Gabriele, Liz Bodensieck, Krissy Cicalis, and Molly Pomroy. Many of the times the other relay teams ran were top ten times in the state this year, so overall, the coaches could not be prouder of the girl's performances. On February 1st, the team will compete in the Old Colony League Championship Meet.
1/21 vs Taunton:The B-R Girls Winter Track Team clinched the OCL Championship on Thursday, defeating Taunton H.S. 85 to 14, at Wheaton College. Winners for B-R included, Molly Pomroy, Kim Gabriele, Jess Sullivan, Jill Wyman, Kassandra Aveni, Liz Baird, Jacqui Perkins, Reilly Lindsey, Liz Bodensieck, Lauren Koczela, Alicia Roberts, and Melissa Laubi. The team will look to continue their success on Sunday, competing in the Division 1 State Relays, at The Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.
1/15 vs Barnstable: The Girls Winter Track Team continued to shine on Friday, running their record to an impressive 3-0 in the OCL, and 5-0 Overall, defeating Barnstable H.S. 72 to 24. Winners included, Kim Gabriele, Erin Desrochers, Jill Wyman, Katie Ayers, Jacqui Perkins, Melissa MacDonald, Melissa Laubi, Sarah Frye, Krissy Cicalis, Jess Sullivan, Mikaela Esposito, and Molly Pomroy. The team will try to clinch an outright OCL Championship next Thursday at Wheaton vs. Taunton.
1/11 vs Durfee: The Lady Trojans Track Team continued their winning ways on Monday, defeating Durfee H.S. 73 to 27, at Wheaton College. The victory ran the team record to 2-0 in the OCL, and 4-0 Overall. Winners for B-R were, Molly Pomroy, Kim Gabriele, Alicia Roberts, Jessica Sullivan, Katie Ayers, Kassandra Aveni, Megan McDonald, Melissa Laubi, Lauren Koczela, Liz Bodensieck, Mikaela Esposito, and Krissy Cicalis. The next meet is Friday at The Reggie Lewis Center against Barnstable H.S.
1/9 Large School Winter Festival: The Girl's Winter Track Team continued their early season success, competing in the Large School Winter Festival at The Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. The Lady Trojans had numerous outstanding performances, and are poised to get ready for the Championship portion of their schedule. Kim Gabriele, Melissa Laubi, Jacqui Perkins, and Liz Bodensieck ran to a first place finish in the 4-200 meter relay. Katie Ayers finished second in the 2 mile run, breaking the school record, with a time of 11:56.99. Alicia Roberts, Molly Pomroy, Krissy Cicalis, and Melissa Laubi finished second in the 4-400 meter relay, and Jessica Sullivan, Erin Desrochers, Jill Wyman, and Kassandra Aveni combined to run to a second place finish in the 4-800 meter relay. Kim Gabriele finished third in the 300 meter run, while Jessica Sullivan and Reilly Lindsey finished fourth in the 1000 meter run and Shot Put respectively. Molly Pomroy was seventh in the 55 meter hurdles, Liz Bodensieck was seventh in the 55 meter dash, and Joanna Carroll was seventh in the High Jump.
1/5 vs Attleboro: The B-R Girl's Winter Track Team earned a hard fought victory, defeating a strong Attleboro H.S. Team 55 to 45. The Lady Trojans needed a total team effort from everybody involved with the team, and with Captains, Kassandra Aveni, Erin Desrochers, Andrea Murray, and Jill Wyman leading the way, that is exactly what transpired.. Winners for B-R included, Molly Pomroy, Kim Gabriele, Katie Ayers, Megan McDonald, Kassandra Aveni, Jessica Sullivan, Krissy Cicalis, and Melissa Laubi, but it was the 2nd and 3rd place finishes that determined the final outcome. Both squads won 5 events, and 1 relay each, but the team effort and depth determined the final outcome. Everybody involved with the Track Program could not be happier or prouder for the girls.
12/18 vs Dartmouth: The B-R Girl's Track Team finished off an impressive opening week, by defeating the Dartmouth H.S. Indians 74 to 26 on Friday at The Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury. The win runs the girl's record to 1-0 in the OCL, and 2-0 Overall. Winners for The Lady Trojans were, Molly Pomroy, Kim Gabriele, Melissa Laubi, Jessica Sullivan, Katie Ayers, Alicia Roberts, Jacqui Perkins, Sarah Frye, Lauren Koczela, and Olivia Coakley. The girl's will next compete at the Auerbach Freshman/Sophomore Meet on January 3rd.
12/15 vs New Bedford: The B-R Girl's Winter Track Team opened their 2009-2010 season with an impressive win against the New Bedford H.S. Whalers 79 to 21 at Wheaton College on Tuesday. Winners for the Lady Trojans were, Kim Gabriele, Molly Pomroy, Melissa Laubi, Erin Desrochers, Jess Sullivan, Katie Ayers, Kassie Aveni, Jacqui Perkins, Alicia Roberts, Michela Esposito, and Chrissy Cicalis. Next up for the girl's are the Dartmouth H.S. Indians on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.
