It was a fitting end to a sucessful season for all the fine young people involved with our Track Program.
MIAA Division 1 State Championships: the girls had an outstanding meet and finished in 8th place overall as a team. Just to qualify for this prestigious event is quite difficult, as the best athletes from the whole state are the only people invited. We are very fortunate to have dedicated young ladies striving to be the best they can be, thus we had 15 girls fortunate enough to compete. They all made the B-R Community proud, as they all competed very hard, and showed class in doing so. The girls whom qualified and competed in events were, Amy Delgado, Leslie Dias, Jessica Correia, Samantha Bissonnette, Melanie Frazier, Colleen Buckley, Molly Pomroy, Kassandra Aveni, Jill Wyman, Sarah Cote, Elisabeth Bodensieck, Kim Gabriele, Reilly Lindsey, Jacqui Perkins, and Aliya Rosenberg. We were very fortunate to have four of the young ladies place in the top six in events, and qualify for the MIAA All-State Championships this coming Friday. Molly Pomroy was on the 4-400 meter relay team which finished in 5th place. Amy Delgado was also on the 4-400 meter relay team, and also finished in sixth place in the 300 meter dash. Melanie Frazier was part of the relay team, as well as, finishing 3rd in the Long Jump, and sixth in the 55 meter dash. The 4th member of the 4-400 relay was Samantha Bissonnette. However, Sam also became a State Champion when she was able to beat an outstanding field of athletes in the 600 meter run. All the young ladies made the coaching staff proud, and we are all looking forward to Friday. The team would also like to congratulate all the other winter teams, and wish them luck in the upcoming tournaments.
