Meet Notes 2011 - 2012 Season
1/30 Old Colony League Meet:
The B-R Girls Winter Track and Field Team traveled to Boston on Monday and competed in The OCL League Championship Meet. The girls made the school and themselves proud as they finished in 1st place, with 73 team points, and winning the meet. The final results were, B-R 73, Taunton 60, Dartmouth 41.5, and Barnstable 21.5. It was a total team effort, as many young ladies had outstanding performances. Contributing team points for the Trojans were, Audrey Chaffee, Sarah Barnett, Sarah Frye, Sarah Dawson, Emma Sullivan, Carly Rettig, Renee Beneski, Molly Desrochers, Jess Sullivan, Eva Bunszell, Rose Bunszell, Katie Phieffer, Mikaela Esposito, Meaghan Kenney, Alicia Porter, Emily Bumpus, Kayla Porter, Jessica Cavallaro, and Andrea Rota. The team has put in a tremendous amount of hardwork, and made many sacrifices this season, and they deserve to be recognized for their efforts. So all the people involved with the program would like to shout out a big congratulations to all of the members of the team.
1/19 Varsity vs Dartmouth: The B-R Girls Winter Track and Field Team added another OCL Championship to their laurels on Friday, defeated a very good Dartmouth H.S. Team. The team had their best overall performance of the season, as many young ladies had outstanding performances, during the 60 to 40 victory. Gaining 1st place finishes during the meet for the Lady Trojans were, Jess Sullivan, Sarah Barnett, Rose Bunszell, Sarah Frye, Alicia Porter, Katie Phieffer, and Mikaela Esposito. The team will next compete in a Junior Varsity Meet at Wheaton College on Thursday. A big congratulations goes out to the young ladies as their dedication towards success has paid off with their 5th straight OCL Championship.
1/9 Varsity vs Taunton:
The B-R Girls Track and Field Team traveled to Wheaton College on Monday afternoon. The team had a great meet, defeating a game Taunton H.S. 51 to 48. The win over the previously unbeaten Tigers secured at least a piece of the OCL Championship. The Lady Trojans can secure an outright League Title with a win on Friday against Dartmouth H.S., at The Reggie Lewis Center. Winning events on Monday for B-R were, Jess Sullivan, Sarah Frye, Mikaela Esposito, Sarah Barnett, Katie Phieffer, Jess Cavallaro, and Sarah Dawson. Along with the winners, the team had numerous outstanding performances from, Rose Bunszell, Eva Bunszell, Carly Rettig, Rennee Beneski, Molly Desrochers, Alicia Porter, and Liz Smith, as they all picked up important 2nd and 3rd place finishes during the meet. It was a total team effort, and the coaches could not be happier for the girls.
1/6/12 Varsity vs Durfee:
The B-R Girls Track and Field team traveled to The Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury on Friday. The team took on Durfee H.S., coming away with an impressive 80 to 20 victory, the girls are now 2-1 overall, and 1-0 in the OCL. Winners for the Trojans were, Sarah Barnett, Jess Cavallaro, Katie Phieffer, Sarah Frye, Jess Sullivan, Molly Desrochers, Andrea Rota, Sarah Dawson, Mikaela Esposito, Eva Bunszell, and Rose Bunszell. The girls will travel to Wheaton College on Monday, to take on the Taunton Tigers for 1st Place in the OCL
12/16 Varsity vs New Bedford:
The B-R Girls Track and Field Team lost an outstanding meet on Friday 52 to 48, to the New Bedford H.S. Whalers. It was a fantastic showing bye both teams as it came down to the relay events at the end of the meet. Unfortunately, the B-R girls came up just short, but many positives came out of the meet. Winners for the Lady Trojans were, Sarah Barnett, Rose Bunszell, Jess Sullivan, Emily Bumpus, Eva Bunszell, and Sarah Frye. Many of the young Freshmen and Sophomores stepped up and made the meet a great meet to watch. The team will next compete against Durfee H.S. after the Christmas Break.
12/13 Varsity vs Barnstable:
The B-R Girls Winter Track and Field Team opened their season on Tuesday with a 67 to 32 win over Barnstable H.S., at Wheaton College. Winning events for the Trojans were, Eva Bunszell, Carly Rettig, Jess Sullivan, Alicia Porter, Sarah Barnett, Sarah Dawson, Katie Pheiffer, Sarah Frye, Mikaela Esposito, Erin Walsh, and Rose Bunszell. The girls will travel to The Reggie Lewis Center on Friday to take on the always strong New Bedford H.S. girls.
